Ya, simple pattern, he says.... right! Nice job.... Your patterns and cuttings always are. I was a huge John Wayne fan also. I never thought he was a great actor, if you think about it he played the same part in every show he was in. They put him in different wardrobes and maybe a few different actors around him, but he played the same part.... As time went by, he even wore the same costume in most of his Westerns... No matter I saw every show he was ever in, I think, and loved every one of them...

Just thought I would update. Making progress. Re-cut two sides so the end profiles at the ends would match. Sanded and started fitting the sides together. It is going well, one more side to fit. After it is fitted, I will take it apart again and glue it all up. The I put in the inside veneer, apply finish and done. Another week....

What I am arguing with "me" about this, should I point this out to Pedro, or not...? I have cut and pasted and in the process of re-cutting and looking at what I did, I know it is the way it should be... But many before me have done it the pattern way,,, maybe they are correct.. I am wrong... Oh, well. If anyone that likes these patterns and cuts them, please contact me and we can discuss this. I love the work Pedro does, I have cut some of his pattern and intend to cut many more. He has had some trying time lately do to illness, so I do not want to challenge him in any way. Not a biggy, a beautiful box (I think) which ever way it is cut.

Well darn.... I have noticed what I think is a flaw in the pattern. Looks like I will do a little re-cutting. If you look at the picture here, I think the profile at the ends of the front/back and the ends of the side should match. They do not. I have gone back and looked a pictures of this box on the finescrollsaw site, and most followed the pattern and I don't think it looks correct. One person looks like they made the profiles match and I think it looks correct.... So I am going to re-cut the sides and I have cut and pasted the end profiles from the front/back pieces to the side pieces so all will match up. I wish I had noticed this earilier, but hey, it is only about 4 hours of cutting....

Brings smiles. I watched all the episodes on NetFlix last year, never watch it when was on TV. I enjoy it, laughed a lot and hope I never see it again..... that is a whole lot of episodes! Nice job on your pictures.

Got the four sides cut today for the Maple version. I have to do the same for the BB one. To tied to remove the tape and patterns this evening.

I assume you mean Pedro of finescrollsaw? That looks mighty nice to me. I am working one of his patterns right now and plan several this year. I really enjoy doing them, but they can be a challenge for sure. I just hope he stays in business.

I have used at least a dozen, maybe more. When doing this kind of cutting, a sharp blade is your friend, for sure. If I could, I would sell my Seyco and buy another Hegner..... Not really the Seyco is a good saw. I just like the "feel" of the Hegner, better. Like liking the feel of an old car over a newer one....Us old designs have to stick together.

I'm thinking you did a very fine job. I have done very little intarsia, but enough to know, you are correct, cutting is the easy part. Sanding and shaping,,,, that take an artist's eye. I do not have that talent. Yours look great.

Welcome to the forum. Gotta say you are starting out with a fine saw. When I first purchased my Hegner, I had a bad time with it. I just couldn't get the right combination. I kept breaking blades, and breaking a blade on a Hegner can be a scary experience for the first few times. Sounds like the saw is flying apart! I was in contact with Advance Machinery often seeking advice. They would not give up one me. Gave me all the help and encouragement I needed. It finally clicked and it all boiled down to getting the right feel of the required tension on the blade. Also read the manual. The top clamp when using a regular clamp is set differently in it's holder in relation to the how tight the screw at the top of the clamp is set, than it is if you get the Quick Clamp. And get the Quick Clamp, worth every penny. It is a great saw, I would not part with mine. And I am trying to figure out who your brother is.

The saw I use most, Hegner. The Seyco would do it, I just am most comfortable with the Hegner, not sure why.

Just finished scrolling the lid to the box. This is with the pattern removed and laying a piece of red felt. Was at it four hours today, have probably have a little over 12 hours in cutting so far.

You did a wonderful job. If I was the pattern maker though, I would have made the Africa continent the middle of the globe.
