  1. I probably have 30 hours in it with scrolling, assembling and finishing.
  2. That is a GREAT picture. Saw this on another forum where they were talking about the game. Someone mentioned that they bet Reid really was going to have a headache the next morning do to celebrating....Another said it he thought it would more likely be a belly ache:
  3. Clever! Nice job.
  4. Great work! Very cute. I don't have a cell phone, so I asked myself, why does one need a stand for one. My wife has a cell phone, would she use a stand? I in trouble with her looking for a peace offering....
  5. Welcome to the forum. Scrolling can become addictive.
  6. I got it done. What a struggle for me. Took longer to put it together than it did to scroll.... well almost. It is made of 3/16" Maple, the interior is lined with what I think is Cherry Veneer. Measures 11" x 11" x 3". I used the largest leaf from the pattern, redrew it a little and made the feet on the bottom. The plans do not call for the feet. This a Finescrollsaw.com pattern. I am making a second one out of 1/4" BB. Got it almost cut out. I use a piece of 1/4" BB as a backer when I cut out the lid, because I didn't want to just cut 3/16" Maple, thought I'd have better control with thicker wood. The scrap backer turned out so good, I decided to just do another box. Gluten for punishment.... Sorry for so many pictures, I was trying out my new photo tent and having fun. Not the wrinkles in the blue clothe Hope they can be ironed out, other wise I will just have to toss them and get something else.
  7. @JTTHECLOCKMAN, Thanks, I thought about the sticky back felt and in fact did the inside of a pen box with it. I'm just a little worried if the sticky stuff stays stuck for a long time.....
  8. @Dave Monk, just curious if you got this all figured out? I am thinking of trying flocking the inside of the current box I am working on. I have lined the inside of my current box with cherry veneer, to give a contrasting backer to the fret work. I would kinda like to flock the inside, because it looks nice and it would cover up my less than perfect fitting of the backer on the sides of the box. I have some concerns, one of which, I don't want to get flocking fibers in the outside fret work. I don't think I could ever get it all cleaned out. I think I would have to mask off the outside of the box real well to prevent this. The other is I have never done the flocking before, so I thought maybe you got it all figured out and you could steer me in the right direction.... and one more how much can one of the kits cover this box is 11" x 11" x 3, pretty good sized... would one kit cover the inside. And than another question, if I can do this and like how it turns out, I will probably want to do some others... can you use the same "puffer" thingy for different colors of do you need to get a separate "puffer" for different colors? https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/36958-kind-of-scrolling-i-like-edit-129/page/3/?tab=comments#comment-410090
  9. I see a new post by Dave Monk and I can't wait to get it open and see what he has created now..... Never have I be disappointed and I am always in awe. Beautiful box and craftsmanship is superb!!
  10. I agree with @dgman, if you get along with the originals I would stick with them until you need to replace them or if there is a good sale on the Pegas clamps like Denny had a while back. I have the Pegas clamps, they are a nicer clamp than the originals, but I don't scroll any better because of them.
  11. She certainly is a beauty!!
  12. Great job. Not easy to cut something that long.
  13. Nice pieces, I always like the way you frame you pictures...
  14. Nice job!!
  15. I have 15 of his patterns. I have completed completed "The Dutch box" and the "Five Dragon Box", now working on the "Modena Jewel Box". At the rate I go,,,,, I will not finish them all in my life time that I have left.. Hope to complete a few more this year.
  16. Well, the other color wasn't bad, but I agree this is better. Looks rich. What is your next Pedro project?
  17. I am experiencing/experimenting as I go with the box I'm TRYING to make, same as you Ray. Trial and error, then retry, but worth the effort because the next one, even if may not be the same design, the techniques I learn will be helpful. It is taking me as long to fit and assembly as it took to cut. Your project will be beautiful just like the last one you made was....
  18. Very nice, and you guys are making me feel very guilty.... I have nothing valentine-y to make for my wife.....
  19. Now that is pretty darn awesome!!!!!!!!!
  20. @spirithorse if one had noticed the problem, yes. I don't like to stack cut over 1/2" material, so I blindly stacked two fronts/backs and stacked cut two sides.... when I got got done was when I noticed something was not right. So I made another copy of the front/back then changed the slots on the pattern and re-cut. I don't mind, I like doing this, I just hated wasting the Maple wood. I still have to cut the front/back/sides in 1/4" BB to utilize the 1/4" BB backers I used when I cut the top and bottom..... Good thing I like cutting fretwork... And my next planned projects are fretwork of this kind..... It is my thing, just like others enjoy cutting puzzles, making toys, or portraits,,,, we do what we like to do....

    Howdy All!

Glad to have you as a neighbor in the village.
  22. I like it either way. However, I still use clothes pins. The make great little clamps for gluing small item, and you can fashion the to fit in odd places...
  23. That is all beautiful work, even had it been done with a scroll saw. With a fretsaw, I can not even imagine. Only thing I can think of is you proposed 15 years ago and set the wedding date to a week after you finish all that work. You are definitely a true artist...
  24. Looking really good, Ray.
  25. You did a great job! That old bear does not look at all happy!!
