  1. If you look at even the map of members on here, the east of the Miss. out number the scrollers here on the West 10 to 1, maybe more and it is almost the same for all wood working. Been that way as long as I can remember.
  2. From what I can determine, the second bucket, is only a "cart" for the first bucket. You put casters on it and put the first bucket in it... Them you can remove the inside bucket to empty it.... not sure why that is advantage. I found no obstruction in my setup and my theory is I am connect this to my scroll saw dust collection. I only used 3/4" PVC that it is connecting to. May I need to bump that up to 1" or something, but it would go back down to 3/4" when it gets to my loc-line... I think the Dust Deputy has more suction than the HD one for some reason.... ?? Maybe that has nothing to do with it. For kicks I am going to try the bucket within a bucket and see what happens. If the buck does collapse, I should be able to tell because it take a long time to expand back out when I turn the vac off. I'm pretty sure I agree with Stoney on this one.
  3. Ya, I wish they have similar events near to me...Looks like fun.
  4. I cut gears similar to what you describe. Only I cut each notch both directions before moving to the next.
  5. I didn't want to intrude on Kevins topic he started about dust separators recently, but I have a question. I have been using a Home Depot Duststopper on a 5 gallon bucket for quite a while and it appears to work pretty good. Yesterday I got to thinking about it and I also have a small Dust Deputy that I purchased several years ago. I found it yesterday and decided to put it on my bucket and see it I can tell any difference. With the Dust Deputy, after running it a few minutes, it collapsed my bucket on three sides. It also appears I have a lot more suction at the saw. That is a good thing, but I am somewhat concerned about what it is doing to my vacuum. It sounds no different, but something different is happening and I cannot afford to ruin my vacuum. Amy one have any insight as to if this is a problem or not? Makes me a little nervous... I might add. When I first got the HD DustStopper, I mounted it on an orange HD bucket. It collapsed also, so I switched to this heavy duty paint bucked I had. The HD DustStopper did not collapse this heavy duty bucket.
  6. Welcome to the Village. Looks like you already know your way around a scroll saw. Be sure to check out the pattern library on this site. Plenty to keep you busy.
  7. Boy,,,, been tempted lately. But never tried it, too old to start... Great picture....
  8. Jim I really like this. Nice job. I'm no wood expert but to me the other wood the lighter brown look like it could be Sycamore. Fact to me all but the fins look like they could be Sycamore...
  9. Yep. I had to look up Glowforge also. I know what 3D printers are and as I said they are very intriguing. Been trying to talk my son and grandson into getting one....
  10. Looks like it could be Gary Cooper in "High Noon". Nice job
  11. So very glad you are joining us. Anxious to see you work, both on the scroll saw and the Glowforge. 3D printers really intrigue me...
  12. Guess I could have said, the way the stock market is going we will all be driving luxury cars like that!
  13. Nice, but I couldn't afford one...
  14. I understand. I keep telling my wife, we need to rethink purchases,,,, except for what I need to finish my projects, of course. Unsettling times for sure...I got about a $10 a month raise in my SS this year, but my land taxes went up $400 more this year..... can't win.
  15. @octoolguy, Ray, What ever became of this clock?? I see the Craigslist listing is still,,,, listed... Or did I miss the answer when we got into the discussion of Cow Paddies?
  16. Welcome to the Village. We are glad to have you.
  17. Nice job... I have a real small scrolling club in my area also. I am president of it. Membership 1...... Sure wish there were others that I know of.
  18. Nope and looks very nice.....
  19. I'm just curious, what it the reason to run two (or more) in series? Just so maybe you don't have to empty the bucket as often? I have an old Dust Deputy, and unlike in the picture on this Ebay add, I had to anchor the bucket pretty well. They are very top heavy. I couldn't just set it on the floor and turn the vac on. It would immediately tip over.
  20. Pretty scene.... I'd like to be there! Nice scroll'n,
  21. I really like the portrait and really really like the way you did the backer and framing. Wish I had the artistic imagination to come up with things like that. Did you do Charles's BB King portrait? Also another guitar player portrait. I may have to looking this one to add to my son's music room.
  22. Kirk, nice cutting and I really like the way you finished it off. Those eyes really stare at you! You talk spirals, I assume you are using Flying Dutchman in both sizes. I may be wrong of coarse, but I used the 3/0 and 2/0 FDs for a long time. I really didn't care for the difference in size between the two and used the bigger 2/0 only when I had to. Then I purchased some Pegas 2/0 to try and I really like them. They appear to be a size in between the FD 3/0 and 2/0. Now I use them whenever I need a spiral blade and use the FD 3/0 only when cutting vains or just need a really small spiral... That has been my experience, just putting it out there.
  23. Well we all know Facebook is for a bunch of Liberal Commies joke joke joke........ I just went back on the other day to see what is in their market stuff. I keep hearing it is better than Craigslist, but I haven't figured it out yet..
  24. That is some cool stuff! Nice work.
  25. ya, I know, and it gets worse as I get older.... seem to not worry about what people think of me...at my age, who cares,
