  1. Do you mean your "son" set your free, or the "sun" sets you free? Very nice piece, either way.
  2. Just a quick up date. I stated that I made this for a friend/co-worker of my daughter. My daughter sent it to her and I received this email from my daughter a couple days ago. This really make the effort worth it. "Christina got the package today. Her exact words - OMG OMG OMG I LOVE IT I LOVE IT I LOVE IT Wow, I could just cry! Thank you, you made her day, week, month "
  3. I watched him often over the years. He has come a long ways. For some reason I now have trouble with video watching on my computer. They constantly pause and play catch up. Very annoying. Not sure way, maybe I need to upgrade my service, or my router or something.
  4. Cutting one of you patterns right now. Have cut several and enjoy them. Did not know you were a member here. Very glad to have you, joining in with us.
  5. Very nice cuttings. Could the not sure be cedar? Although I think you would recognize the smell of cedar.
  6. I don't know what brought this post back up, but do really appreciate the comments. The church I was making it for as a favor to my son, did not want it. Huge church, but they said they had no place to put it. Oh well, one of these days I will look for a local church that might be able to use it. If not, it currently hangs in my family room, of which I am the only family that ever goes there. Does not matter, I thoroughly enjoyed cutting it.
  7. Please let I know the results. I have thought of entering something in our local fair. Like a lot of fairs it is getting less and less participation. Last one there were three small items in the wood working section. Pretty sad.
  8. Agreed! Skunks and Raccoons will also kill chickens, just for the fun of doing it. And squirrels are nothing but rats with a bushy tail!!
  9. Those look very well done. Nice work!!
  10. In reality, the Dustopper (correct name for it), is intended to be mounted side-by-side, that is why it only comes with one 90° elbow. That being said, I don't think it would be real tippy stack mounted on a cart. The vacuum weights quite a bit more than the bucket. If it does get tippy, just add some weight to the vacuum, like a brick, it is not going to fill up anyway...
  11. Yes the dowel is glued to the lid only. The part going into the body needs to be a snug fit and is held by friction. It it doesn't hold (mine if iffy), one could put a small magnet in the front of the body or lid and a small screw/nail or something in the counter part for it to attach to.
  12. That looks great! Very well done.
  13. The pattern is in the Spring 2018 issue #70, of Scrollsaw Woodwooking and Crafts article titled "Heart Shaped Boxes", page 52.
  14. I bet he liked that. That is a great tribute. Your son deserves many thanks and you deserve to be very proud of him. Please pass on my thanks for his service also.
  15. Very well done. The nails represent the spikes. Great piece.
  16. Great job Dick. My Granddaughter graduates from College this year. I was going to try to make the emblem of the sorority she belongs to as an inlay on something, but haven't gotten up the courage yet to try. Even discussed it via message with Dave Monk. But I need to start out with something simpler and get to know how to do it. So, not enough time now. She like money more anyway,......
  17. How is your eye? I thought we got cut short, I was just getting started but was worried about your eye. Patti answered the phone, brought it to me and said, it's Dick and rolled her eyes,,,,, like we will be a while... About the only time I talk on the phone for more the 48 seconds is when one of my kids calls or you. Must say, I talk longer to you but it is not as often. I enjoy every minute of it.
  18. Very nice!
  19. I got a plan for his grandson. My F-I-L had some quirks. One, he like to rivet things. Like he put rivets in the chrome on his car so it would not fall off, it was a big joke between the son-in-laws and male grand kids. We always have joked about Grampa and the rivets. Well his grandson is getting one of these pictures and the frame on his will have some rivets in it. He will know exactly why.
  20. Sunday so I am relaxing. Wanted to do something pretty easy so, decided it was time I finally cut a picture that I have had the pattern for since 2016. @joleet made it for me. Very sorry it took me so long to get it done. Life got in the way and I didn't get to it. This is a picture of my Father-in-law. Kinda a favorite picture of him in the family. I made 3 copies for family members that said they wanted one. He was kinda a tough old bird. A lineman that use to work on the high 400 foot (I think I heard they were that tall) towers with the high voltage lines. We have some pictures of him up on one sitting there eating his lunch, enjoying the view. It is a looooog ways up. I will make frames for them before I give them the pictures. Hope that doesn't take me another three years!
  21. All the effort had to be worth it to end up with a piece that beautiful!!
  22. Have to agree with Innar. That is really very well done.
  23. That is pretty darn awesome!! Now you need to get it liquored up!
  24. @JTTHECLOCKMAN, those are beautiful, and to me something just have to be made out of Oak. Shelves like you did are examples, they were meant to be made of beautiful Oak.
