  1. Congrats, that is a great find. I have never seen one on Craigslist. I keep looking for the deal of a life time on a good drum sander (the thickness sander type), but no luck so far. Yesterday I purchased the plans for making one. Probably will never make it, but, well, just maybe.
  2. I think the plates would look better the same color wood as the picture. As is, with the different color wood, I think the over shadow the picture. I see the plates as the main focus. Maybe the is the effect you want, and that is okay for sure. I really like the the picture, great job.
  3. Welcome to out little town. Glad to have you join us.
  4. Or, maybe try a more aggressive blade on it?.. That is something I can't figure about those that advertise the Hegner as a "production" saw. It certainly is as far a durability, but it is probably one of the least aggressive saws there is. The same blade type cuts a lot different on my Hegner than it does on my Seyco. I would assume that for production you would want speed. I'm old and slow.....
  5. Kevin is correct, I think I don't think "Old Crow Scrollwerks" "Works" any more. I think you can still get the Helmut Schwiboggens from the address provided at that site, but I haven't been able to get any kind of response from the Old Crow patterns part. I emailed Helmut's address and received a response that Helmut's patterns are still available. I would email and ask before spending any money though. Pretty sad, he has good patterns, I agree someone need to remove the site. Maybe Don is unable to.
  6. My current one is a 12V DeWalt and I like it best of any I have had, including the three other Dewalts I have owned. I like it because it is small and for what I do, I don't need a high powered one. This one has plenty of power for me and not heavy and cumbersome. When the batteries die on it, I will go back to electric, they work fine as long a I use them in the shop and I don't have plans to build big stuff anymore.
  7. I have had several times where I didn't remember who the pattern was made by. Now when I save on from the library here, I will put the author's name in the file name. Unless the one that made the pattern is good enough to add their name to the pattern. But I do still have many patterns that I do not know who made them.
  8. I always turn mine off after use and purge the air and WATER. Mine always has some build up of moister in the tank. I have read many times that left it there the tank can rust from inside out.... get weak and under pressure explode. That is what I have read,,, honest. This is just one article: https://air-compressor-help.com/do-i-need-to-drain-the-compressor-tank/
  9. Pattern by Seyit But still a great job!
  10. Really glad you are feeling better. Don't over do, but do.... Nice pieces.
  11. Good to know, thanks guys.
  12. clamp move.m4v I notice that there seems to be quite a bit of play in my Pegas clamps mounted on my Seyco. I know they can't be tight but should the move much? May have to re-install the old ones to see how much "play" the have side to side when mounted. Not sure you can tell by this video.
  13. Sad, but it is my belief that it is not because it was made in China as much as it is the company having it made is willing to accept low standards. They write the spec and do the end quality control. I they accept poor they will get poor. If that is the way all new Ex's are, it will be the final demise of the Excalibur. Sad.
  14. Great piece. Is that all out of the same wood? Or is it the light reflecting off of two different grain directions? Make a neat effect.
  15. Very nice! I love to see these husband and wife team projects.
  16. Ha! You did that in one day and that is a little longer than normal!!!! That would take me a week! It is a beautiful cross. You did a super job!
  17. Slow, but it is healing. Thanks for asking.
  18. Nice work, two beautiful women....
  19. DO NOT OVER DO!! So glad you are feeling better. I really haven't been able to do any real physical stuff since last Oct. Lost 20 and I am a little guy. I know what you mean about being weak. Funny how quickly the muscles deteriorate. Now I have a 5 lb. lifting restriction on my left hand for a while, and I can tell that arm is already weaker... But I can still scroll.
  20. That is Carole Rothman, this is her blog. She does beautiful boxes, bowls and vases. http://scrollsawbowls.blogspot.com/
  21. What??! I still have my rocking horse, my dad made me 74 years ago.
