  1. That is a super great job, Les!
  2. Harry, that is looking mighty good from where I sit. How do you like your new saw.
  3. Nice job. I wonder what the effect would be if you wadded the foil, then flattened it out for a backer. Might give more of a water look,,,, just a suggestion. Looks nice the way it is though.
  4. Personally I don't care whether people like spirals or not. I use to try to convince people they are a good tool, but we have been down this road so many times that I just don't see the point anymore. Everyone I know here turns out good stuff no matter what tool they use. I also think that as many times as this has been discussed, the same people that like them, like them and the same ones that don't,,,, don't.
  5. Those are really nicely done. That Dodge looks better on your piece than they do in real life.
  6. Well that was really worth all your effort. Great choice of woods to use also.. That is really a great little box!
  7. Maybe you need a little time off!!!
  8. I've heard of it, never tried it. Maybe a good idea if you are doing something with non-reverse blades... It always makes me feel bad when a blade gets dull, I take it out and see the shinny part,,,, shows how little of a blade is actually used.... Not that blades are really expensive, but I hate waste. Same reason I like to recycle,,, not because I think I will save the earth, but because I hate waste.
  9. Very nice! Looks like you found the perfect frame to go with it.
  10. Holy cow! That is great scrolling. Be sure and start an album here so we can look at your work often. It really inspires me. I have to get the BB King pattern, that is a Charles Dearing pattern, right? Never mind I found it. It is now mine....
  11. Pegas,,,,, look at the Pegas.... Great saw and the prettiest saw on the market.... https://www.dndhardwoodsonline.com/product/90.760
  12. That is great and well deserved!
  13. Glad to have you join the Village. Some cut toys you make. We have others here that make toys and puzzles... And a lot of fret workers.... You will fit right in.
  14. Well I think the Hegner is the best, but I may be prejudice. If I was to purchase a new saw right now I'd be ordering a Pegas, 21".
  15. That is a mighty nice bit of scrolling!
  16. Very nice pieces, and that is correct, "Combat Medics The Unsung Hero's". They are heros for sure.
  17. Glad to have you join us. Look forward to getting to know you.
  18. I will subscribe to SSW again when they let subscribers log into their site and download any of their patterns individually so it is easy and user friendly.
  19. @JTTHECLOCKMAN, I remember my days at IAP and I know you will. You do some very amazing stuff.
  20. HUH! Are you talking to me??? Hello,,, solenoid, valve? Pneumatic Actu--something.... I am from the dumb planet!!!!
  21. Super cutting!! One of my favorite uncles had an old Indian. He had a side car for it also and would take me for rides. He would have "Cherry Bomb" fire crackers that he gave me to throw at the ground to scare dogs that would chase us. It was great fun. I have had such a great life.. These are the fun things you got to do before computers, video games, cell phones and such things...Heck, you went outside and enjoyed,,,,,,life,,,,,earth.
  22. Kevin, thanks for the great review and an honest one. The second to last paragraph surprised me some. I read it like you preferred the Hawk more for fret work and thinner wood, the Ex for the thicker stuff. I would expect the the Ex, with the easier blade clamps for moving from one hole to another, etc., would make it the preferred for detailed fret work. I cannot argue with you, I have never had the privilege of sitting at a Hawk so I can't compare. But I do fretwork a lot and had an Ex and now an Ex "type" Seyco, and I always thought their clamps would be more compatible with fret work.... Very interesting. I really hope that someday I get a chance at a Hawk that I just can not pass up. I almost "pulled the trigger" a couple years ago on a real clean G-4 model, I say "pulled the trigger" because, we could not agree on price but I offered trading a WWI Springfield 30-06 rifle for it... then when he was really interested, I got scared and backed down...... such a coward...
  23. Well, that is very interesting.... is there more info somewhere, like plans/instructions for building/ buying?? Did miss something? And you mention tilt.... I did not see anything about "tilt" in the video I saw...
  24. Not had that problem but it is good to know. Thanks.
  25. What a cute cut!! Great job!
