  1. Very well done on both.
  2. Okay, now you are just showing off!! That looks great!
  3. Nice job on the plaque. Great story.
  4. I've heard about the clay but not a lot. Looks like something that would be very useful. Your pieces really look nice. I especially like that dragon box.
  5. You did an outstanding job on an outstanding pattern!! Those eyes,, stare right through a person.
  6. @TravisAnd there is the pattern. We must have posted at the same time. I still think my suggestion has some merit, if it is doable.
  7. This begs the question ( @Travis ) can anyone add tags to the patterns? My thought is when someone finds a pattern that they want to download and use, if they could add tag word(s) to it, then when they show the finished project, and are acknowledging the pattern maker, they could also state the pattern can be found in the library using tag word(s) === whatever tag they gave it. Over time, it would really make it easier for people to find patterns. Person could add pertinent tag words as they are just browsing also... Just to help the search function. Just a thought... good or bad.
  8. I don't think the search works well in the pattern area. Maybe it is because the patterns are like pictures and it doesn't search the words in pictures, I don't know, but I have not had any real luck searching patterns or galleries. Maybe if the pattern makers added tag words or something, search would work.
  9. Look real good to me. I intend to give it a try this year.
  10. I use a FD Penguin Silver Reverse, FD-PSR a lot. May next time I will try the one without the reverse teeth in some tight area and see. When you get to real small area, there is not a whole lot of sticky holding, and would not take much to lift things up.
  11. On that one, I'd cut it in a hardwood, 1/2" or 3/8". I would start at the top and just work my way down. In that thick of hardwood, I do not think any of the cuttings would be very fragile. Like the man said, "Just relax and cut."
  12. I have that problem often and I use blue painters tape and 3M 45 or 3M 77 spray and it still does it. I think it is more of a matter of there is not much sticking power when you get yo that small of a piece or some how dust is getting under the tape as you cut in tight areas. I have tried the shelf sticky stuff and had the same problem AND I have a roller! I do not use it all the time, but when I do,,, I have the same problem. I have just learned to live with it.
  13. I liked that basket when I saw it in my daily Steve Good email. Now that I see yours, I really like it even more. Very nice job. Could you enlarge the pattern to make it bigger?
  14. You did a good job! Why did you patch the "worm hole" in the wood? Worm holes add character....
  15. My first saw was a Craftsman, can't remember what model. To change the blade, I had to get on my knee with an allen wrench, and a little "U" shaped tool that came with the saw, to remove the old bade and put in a new one. I finally mounted the saw on a hinged platform I made so I could just put it on it's side when I wanted to change blades. It is a wonder I still wanted to scroll. I had it for years.
  16. Great job! You are not Tim the Toolman's neighbor are you?
  17. So sorry for your family's loss. That is a beautiful piece you made.
  18. I guess I picked a username for this forum that really fits me!!
  19. Not true Les, but funny! I had the ultimate insult a couple weeks ago. My outdoorsman, hunting sportsman brother-in-law was visiting. He was looking at the pictures I have done, lots of animal ones, deer, moose, lions and tigers, etc. I said to him, "if you see any you would like to have help yourself." He looked for a while and then just walked off,,, not a word!!! I guess the puts me in my place!
  20. I really do not like to recommend saws because so much of it is personal preference. All I would say is of the ones you mentioned, the Jet is a bottom feed only saw, unless you invest in new clamps, which to me eliminates the one thing that sets it apart, it's top clamp. Don't get me wrong, I am a bottom feeder so to me that is not an issue, just wanted to make sure you are aware of that feature. The only issues I have read about the King or the Excalibur, is there is setup and adjustments required out of the box. They are not pre-tuned up like they were when purchased from Seyco. You have that same thing with all the others you listed also. One other thing, check you local area for used saws, craigslist, a local wood working club. Sometimes you can get a used higher end saw for a great price.
  21. Congratulations!
  22. Glad to have you join us.
  23. Really liking that! You did a great job!
  24. Very well done.
