    I spray my cuttings in basswood with poly. Gives it a slight amber color, that I like. If it was mine, I'd put a backer on it. Very nicely cut.

    I have one, this thread reminded me that I did. I have not used it in a long time. I am afraid to use it on delicate fret work and that is what I have been doing most of. It is a good tool though. I have used is on less delicate items in the past and it worked well. Mine is from Klingspor Woodworking Shop. Can not remember the grids I have for it.

    If you look at Marine emblems, looks like most say "Marine Corps" But on patches most seem to say "Marines". Me, I'd go plural. Semper Fi!

    I collect the marbles out of the rattle cans. You don't get marbles with with paint guns. And I also get to take the rattle can out and shoot it with my pellet gun to get the what ever is in them released to I can cut the can to get the marble. It is great fun to shoot those things and watch them fly!!

    Thanks for the input. I am mostly curious about what to look for and this helps. I knew there were some thing with older models that made them less than desirable and the is what I was wanted to learn about. Like the barrel clamp thing. This one is a couple hundred miles from me and I probably won't pursue it. I wouldn't mind going there to look at it, it is one of the most beautiful parts of the state and I love to go there. But, currently too busy getting ready to go on a short RV trip. I posted to because $250 starting price is at the low end of what I I usually see them posted for especially when they look that nice.

    I'm always looking for a great buy a scroll saws. Don't need one but I like to look and I may find a deal I can't pass up. I especially keep looking at RBI Hawks, always thought I would like to have one. But I don't know what to look for. If the newer ones are better than the older ones or visa versa, I don't know that much about them. I'm hoping some of the scrollers that are Hawk fans can give me input as to what to look for what I don't want to get, etc. Example, this looks good to me and a decent price: http://seattle.craigslist.org/kit/tls/5697621963.htmlbut, well what do you Hawk experts say? Keep in mind I am buying at the best possible time, I do not need one, I am in no hurry, well at my age, I'd have a slight hurry, time is getting shorter and shorter,,, so it would have to be a great deal.

    I covered the top of one of my saws with 1/8" masonite and it has been there for a long time, working fine, I did it more for a "zero clearance" (reduce the size of the hole the blade goes through, but it would work for your purposes also. Amazingkevin, a member here has linoleum or something on his saws. Maybe he will speak up here. I know masonite is hard to come by, but pressboard or hardboard or whatever they call it would work as well.

    Lot of time it is just a dust build up. Blow it out as Orangeman said, it that work, a good suggestion is to get a foot switch and cover the saw switch with plastic, tape or something to keep the dust out and use the foot switch. Most people, me included, like the foot switches better anyway.

    Great cutting. Keep at the spirals, but also keep up with the flat blades. They both have their place. I really like that pattern. Hope to give it a try someday.

    I've heard told, course I have never done it,,,,, but it is said to be possible to glue a piece in from the back, holding it with tweezers, using a small drop of medium thickness CA glue. Not sure it works, but,,, But really most times a piece here, a piece there, no one will notice.

    I have two, an Ex and a Hegner. Until recently I have not got along too well with the Hegner but I am now getting the hang of it and may end up even liking it. Now that being said, I check Craigslist often for scroll saws. If I find a deal I just can't pass up, I will have 3 scroll saws,,,, no law against it that I know of.
