I love it when someone report their experiences with a vendor, good or bad. How else can we know who to deal with. So, thank you for your comments.

For now they are for me. The slabs are around 1/4" thick. I bought some slabs that were around 1" to 11/4" thick and re-sawed and planed them. Next time I will go a little thicker. I like Charles' patterns and Mike Williams' also. Thank you all for the nice comments. Make it worth while to me.

Been working on these for a couple months, off and on. I did the Native Americans one sometime back, but wanted to so it again with the bark edge wood. When I was working on it I spotted another Charles Dearing pattern, the cowboy one. So I started it after the I finished the NA. Just seemed like they needed to go together. The Cowboys was a major accomplishment for me. I did it with my Hegner, using 2/0 FD Penguin Silver blades. First time I have figured out how to use the Hegner with the small blades.Now I am a Hegner fan... Basswood approx. 12" x 10" Basswood is so soft, have to be sooo careful.

Congratulations and thanks for taking the time to write the review. Hegner saws have been around a long time and they have a slot in the table top. I have never read of any problems with the table top becoming uneven because of it. Hegner's table top is not as large, but I don't see it being a problem. I went from a Dewalt to a Excalibur, and the Ex only has about 4" in front of the blade. It took me a little time to get use to that, but not long. I guess the only thing that we don't know is how durable the new Jet is. Time will only answer that.

I hit it about 50/50 on signing. I do some, I forget to on some. And when I do, I do it one of several ways depending on the piece and my mood.

Thanks Dan, that is what I tried this time, however, I drilled my hole just below the line instead of centered. Did not give me much groove. Next time I will center in on the line like you suggest.

Did my second birdhouse this morning. The house is Macadamia wood and this bird is popular. Macadamia wood is very unique and beautiful in my opinion. I like to use it for things like pens and bottler stoppers. Very "showy".

Back when I was doing a lot of lathe work, one of my favorite things was to make mini birdhouses. I have a few left of the ones I made, many were given away. Today I finished my first mini-house on the scroll saw. It was tougher than I expected it to be, first attempt at compound cutting and first time cutting that thick of wood on the scroll saw. Anyway I made it through one. Next one I think I will drill a 3/8" hole for the bird to go into, The 1/2" just looks a little big to me. Also I will try to get more contrast between the house and the bird. The bird needs to show up more. I had one bad spot in the roof where I must have been off in my cutting, but I'll work on doing better next time. Here is my collection of birdhouses and a close up of the scroll saw cut one.

Well Darn, Denny has me excited to make some, so I went looking for the patterns I bought a several months ago. Can not find them anywhere. Guess they did not come along when I got my new computer. Oh well, I will keep looking and if no joy, I will buy them again. Keep Diana in business.
