  1. Yep, I will call them, that is where I purchased it also. Don't let this discourage you on the saw, it is a great saw, I will get it fixed. You will love yours as I do mine.
  2. Just got this one off the saw. It is not cleaned up yet and the backer is not attached, but I'm too tired to work on it anymore, and too worried about my saw to care right now. This is a Mike Williams pattern called "Courtship". Been wanting to do it for sometime. There is an artist on the Family Wood Working forum, name Dave Hawksford, that use to post progress of his painting as he did them. He is the best wildlife painter I have ever seen and I absolutely was in awe of his talent. Unfortunately, for some reason he has quit painting. Anyway he did a couple pictures of Loons. When I saw this pattern I thought of him. Nothing compared to what he paints, but had to do it anyway. This is cut in 1/2" Maple.
  3. Seems like I have read on here and some Facebook groups I belong to about people have problems with their Excaliburs. Mostly problems with vibration. I've been working on a picture and my Ex started vibrating and having a rattling sound. Must be a virus or something going around. I went ahead an finished the picture, and believe the vibration did not make it easy, but now I need to dig into my saw and see if I can figure out what is causing it. Hope it is not expensive or I will be down for a while. No I will not be down, I will just have to switch gears and try other types of scrolling. Get some use out of my other saw.
  4. I'm thinking I started seriously scrolling around the time this thread was started!
  5. Seyco has a free number: 1-800-462-3353 Will that work from Australia? They are good and most time can diagnose by listening over the phone.
  6. have you looked here? I've had good luck buying parts from them. http://www.ereplacementparts.com/dewalt-dw788-type-scroll-saw-parts-c-1009_2631_207564.html
  7. Well done.
  8. Kevin, you have got to explain,"pulling barb wire through socks". I can not imagine where that came from.
  9. I agree, don't burn the date would be my input. It looks very nice. Maybe design the base so you scroll the date and maybe names in it?
  10. Ditto on congratulations on both. You will love that saw. They don't even have that saw on their website yet.
  11. What Don said. I have had a DW788 and now have an Excalibur. Both great saws, I like the Ex the best. I really do not remember the DW being faster, so it is probably not much, or I have scrolled long enough now on the Ex that I can make up the difference.
  12. Couple simple answers: If you do detail fret work you need to us plain end blades because you need to be able to thread the blade through a very small hole in the wood. I do not think it is hard at all to install the plain end blades, the clamps on saws made to use them are quick and easy to use. Maybe just a little more practice and it will become easier on your saw. i do no know what the clamps are like on your saw. Here is a pretty good article on what blade to use for different types/thickness' of wood. http://mikesworkshop.com/whatblad.htm there are many charts on the internet also that will show which thickness each blade is made for. I this there is a good one the Olsen has. I use to have it printed and kept it by my saw when I first started.
  13. You are settling right into this. Very well done.
  14. Check out some spiral blades for that purpose.
  15. Great job on that beautiful pattern.
  16. Glad you joined us. Seems to me there are members here that live in England. This is a world wide hobby.
  17. I go through a lot of blades and it is just part of doing this kind of work as far as I am concerned. That is why they can be bought by the gross I guess. I wish they sold the little bits by the gross also, doesn't take a lot to break one of those either.
  18. Welcome Jim. Thank you for all your years of service. Glad you came to the village.
  19. The Master of the Masters has done it again. That is awesome, Randy.
  20. Welcome to the forum. Glad you are here and we are ready to see some of your work. Just a note for what it is worth, I have always read it is not advisable to post your email address in the forum section for everyone to see. You can get spammed or something.
  21. Hi, Vikki! Welcome to the village. I think you will enjoy it here. As for the patterns, maybe you could contact Pedro. He lives in Spain and does the pattern restore or enhance thing, on the computer. Check his free patterns here. http://www.finescrollsaw.com/freepatterns.htm I have bought several of his patterns and had several email conversations with him. A very nice and helpful gentleman to deal with. Might be worth a try to email him.
  22. I agree, great pattern. Very well done.
  23. Nice puzzle. My uneducated guess on the wood is Curly Maple.
  24. Very nice pieces.
  25. Going to be a beautiful piece. I've gone to use larger blades in larger areas sometimes, just so I won't break so many blades. So far I have not found one that I am as comfortable with as I am with the 3/0. I do like to use a 1/16" bit to drill holes in the areas large enough for it to fit. I lose a lot of the 3/0 blades threading them through the small holes. So easy to bend one and once bent they are not going to last much longer.
