  1. Prayer for you to heal quickly and completely. Listen to pro's and get your rest.
  2. Maybe some tall ships and a parrot. Could also do a Jolly Roger flag.
  3. Might want to look into Unicorn Spit brand. Has good reviews. I have never used it but worth looking at for an option.
  4. I have a Brother Laser. No real complaints with it other then the little screen on the front is not back lit so it's hard to read. Toner Cartridges' last a good while and much cheaper to operate then an inkjet. My Model number is MFC-L2707DW .
  5. Sorry to hear that happened. If it is any consolation you in a big group of us that suffered the same type of situation.
  6. Welcome back to the land of the scrolling Paul. Good to see you again.
  7. John Haven't had any problems with the ones I have and use. You said they were breaking around the crimp ? Try putting them in a little shallower in the top clamp. May just be the clamp is trying to flatten the crimp giving it a weak spot. Also make sure the clamps have smooth surfaces and haven't developed a sharp edge. Keep us posted .
  8. I have also used shellac for woods that get really blotchy when applying stain. Pine, Poplar Sheet goods. That stuff can save your bacon in a lot of different ways.
  9. I have assembled mine then applied the finish. I use an oil finish on them and seems to work out for me.
  10. Bobscroll has a pattern of 3 posted here at the village. They are sayings but could be resized easily. I also believe Steve Good has some on his site. Hope this helps.
  11. Happy 4th to you and all. Please take a moment and pray for all those that paid the price for freedom.
  12. The current one I use is now very transportable friendly. do know it can be adjusted to a table and break down and reassembled for ease.If your interested let me know and I can draw up some plans to help you.
  13. I use 3M77. It can be shifted when first applied. If you need to make an adjustment it can be carefully lifted and reapplied. But I normally cover that with packing tape.
  14. Back in the day I just kept mine waxed and never had a problem. I now have a cast iron top and just wax it, I do know of folks that put a piece of something like hard board across the top and they seemed to be happy with the results with much interference to deal with.
  15. I sign mine. I use a permanent fine line marker along with the date. It then gets finish applied over the top. It is dated for the year it was created.
  16. Nothing that I know of. I have manually insert my bridges. I use Corel Draw for most of mine.
  17. I sign all my work. I use a fine tip permanent marker and it is covered with finish. It is also dated to the year it was done in. Works for me.
  18. Been shopping around myself. Leaning towards the Makita 10 inch slider. A little pricey but built very well.
  19. Every situation has it's own requirements. The ability to adjust to them is what matters. Patience and a detailed study will give you answers and experience in learning. The day we quit learning is the day we get put into the Earth.
  20. Not a fan of the sticker. I would sign them like other pieces.
  21. What about the induvial company and make a logo plaque from them ?
  22. I remember reading about folks using sanding mops for this also. I know if I am working on a very delicate piece I put the piece back in and tape them for support.
  23. @John B is right about sanding between coats. I am working on a commission piece and chose shellac as the finish. I have put about 4 coats on now and sanded between each. What I did though was started at 400 for the first 2 coats which leveled the surface. Then switched to 600 for the next 2 coats. The finish comes out glossy with out looking like plastic. Although shellac alone offers very little long term protection but adding a coat of paste wax and final buffing helps protect it a little more. Currently I am using Zinsser spray shellac and dries pretty quick between sanding and coats.
  24. I have been using 3m 77 with out issues. Have to check out his video.
  25. I use oak red/white cherry walnut maple . They all have their plusses and minuses. As for my preferred it would project dependent.
