  1. Great book. I have a copy and it is wonderful
  2. Absolutely gorgeous
  3. I save mine as a PDF and print from that. Maybe this will help you ?
  4. Not surprising the way things have been going. Been holding off for BB but think I'll just bite the bullet now and continue to watch things.
  5. I have been using Mikes Workshop and the same applies. Kudos to there team.
  6. This is a piece I just finished. It was ordered as a gift. A lot of fun to cut. Not quite 16 x 20 Over 300 cuts. .
  7. Glad to hear you going to be back at it. Please be careful and take care of your health. PPE goes a long way when used properly. Stay safe and enjoy getting back to making saw dust.
  8. With water based poly you need to add an extra step. Wipe down the piece to be sprayed let dry then sand very lightly to remove the raised wood fibers. Doesn't take long and I use 400 for this. Lacquer you need great ventilation and a proper mask for protection. Both dry fairly fast. Both should be llightly sanded between coats for that smooth finish. Let us know what you decide.
  9. I don't normally have problems with the top veneer layer. I use blue painters tape . You can also apply the pattern directly to the wood. When your done cutting just wipe it down with mineral spirits and the pattern will lift off cleanly. You do have to make sure you clean the surface good doing it this way but honestly it is that much work to do.
  10. Quite a large selection. Should be something for everyone. Wishing you all the best for Saturday's sales. Looks really good.
  11. Moving it clockwise or counter clock wise will change the angle of the blade when it addresses the wood. This will also change how "aggressive" the cut is. I keep mine at 90 degrees to the table. Seems to work best for my applications.
  12. Don't have a Hawk but will follow for possible future use.
  13. Ralph I had the same problem and noise. I called Ray and had a long talk on the phone with him. I was told to hold both the upper and lower mounting clamps and see if I could still feel the play when I tried to move them Mine eventually got tracked out to the arm on the motor that hooks up to the parallel arms. Ha a dry bearing from the factory and it was worn. New bearing and all was well. Just a thought, it is a slow gentle process but may reveal where the issue is. Good luck .
  14. Sorry to hear about your back. Hopefully you can get something worked out for comfort. I o quite a few different things on the scroll saw. Depends on what the customer wants. If the back issue from bending over, you may try to lift the back of the saw a bit. Being at a different sitting angle may help.
  15. Had to grab his pattern to be sure. They will work well with it.
  16. I have a Ridgid planer. Can't remember the model number. Easy to change the three knives and they are not that expensive. I use mine quite a bit and have been extremely satisfied with it. I believe they still come with a lifetime service agreement.
  17. Welcome to the village. Such a great place to be and hang out. Lots of great information and folks.
  18. I have experienced this. I cleaned everything to remove the oil from the manufacturing process. I use denatured alcohol and it works well for me.
  19. Rockler used to carry a black sanding and routing mesh. I had one before. Not sure if they still carry them. The one I had tore pretty easy when it got snagged on something though.
  20. Thanks for information. From that it looks like we are going to be this for a while.
  21. @FrankEV I agree. But if you cut the white you would have 1 island for the bears eye . I do like this idea.
  22. Thanks Jim. It is more complete then the one I have. Mine was in color and looked more like a graph then a table.
  23. Some good things to keep in mind. I really enjoy cutting those "delicate" patterns. I find that installing a zero clearance under it help tremendously. And I promise not to tell the designer you "messed" with his pattern.
  24. I have made a set of these for my grand kids. The patterns came from Paul Meisel . Very similar to the puppy above in style. There is a variety of shapes he offers. And they are not all that difficult to cut. The wife painted them.
  25. Tanks for sharing the cutting. Great job @Charlie E . I'm sure he will be happy with it.
