  1. If memory serves me right, you use a jeweler's blade. They are designed for cutting metal on a scroll saw.. Have never done it so will be interesting to hear how this works out.
  2. Interesting photos. Always enjoy seeing others work. Was great the one guy opened up to you. I don't disclose numbers when I get asked but will say honestly how I am doing, good fair you get the idea. Thanks for sharing.
  3. Have not tried vynil yet. Very interested though. Thanks for posting. Much to be learned as I see
  4. Maybe clear your cache and try again?
  5. I drill mine with a drill press. I just ordered a new adapter from Mike's work Shop that takes collet inserts for $8.95 after my other finally gave up. Works great and holds the bits straight.
  6. I can try and help on the miter cuts. The first thing I would do Is to make sure the saw is adjusted to cut a true 90 and 45 degree angle. I use a quick square for this. If it is out adjust as needed. I also make sure the back support is even on both sides. Mine is not so I cut all my 45's from one side. I'm waiting for a replacement from Ridgid . Also make sure your measurements are dead on. Always cut to the same side of the line you marked. I cut to the outside of my marked line . I always dry fit and frame or box to make sure it fits right and the corners are tight and even. I do this in clamps as applied pressure does affect things. Measure corner to corner to verify the sides are the same size. When things are right, I then glue it up and re-measure then wait for the glue to dry. I hope this helps but doing it this way for me has made it fool proof almost. Oh don't be in a hurry, like scrolling, patience is always good.
  7. Great looking work. Happy to hear the class went well. Hopefully more will join the ranks of scrollers. Also congrats on selling out on the next class.
  8. Sounds like a good time. Wish I could be there. Good luck on your show and enjoy the time demonstrating
  9. Nice site Helmut. FD is just short for Flying Dutchman Blades. The #9 you referred to is for cutting thicker wood. I have cut 2 of the schwibbogens and they sell great and quick. I don't think most people in the U.S.A. know what they are till I tell them about them. Like orangeman stated, they are expensive and a lot of work, but well worth it.
  10. I don't paint much but my wife does. She has been using Plaid and DecoArt. She seems to like them.
  11. Scroll saw Mag has a list of clubs on their on site. That may help. Google is another great tool to use.
  12. I too would enjoy seeing a photo or two. Like to hear when someone is doing good
  13. I got my EX-21 befor all this. Looking forward to seeing what this works out as. In the market for another saw and swear by the EX !
  14. I use blue painters tape exclusive.
  15. Sorry to hear this. The closest I came wa a groove in a finger nail. Hope all is well and nothing too serious.
  16. I use 3M 77 and never had an issue. I also apply blue painters tape under all my patterns
  17. Hoping to get time to cut it. This time of year is hard to add to the cut list. Normally I use the summer when I can to introduce new products for shows. Would love to see someone cut it though
  18. Paul Looks really good. Nice job cutting .
  19. Jerry That is one beautiful basket. Great job. Also really like the gluing jig you made. Seems it would be necessary for this piece. Good job.
  20. I have used the 50/50 mix of BLO and Mineral Spirits and taped it dry and left hang with good success. Patience in the name of the game. Normally over night works great
  21. Sorry to hear about your medical issue. There are some over the counter items you can try, Icy-Hot being one, They are advertising a stimulator with it, I guess it works on pulses, When I get to this point I see my Chiropractor for an adjustment. It helps but is also temporary.
  22. I read an article a while back about ply warping. Sait to wet it with a damp rag and add wieght to help control the bowing action. Never ran into this myself but would think it is worth the attempt. Best of luck.
  23. Looks good and a great cutting. Keep up the great work.
  24. Karl Taylor addressed this, He used a credit card or like to smooth it out. I haven't tried this but sounds like you get a better bond in the substrates.
  25. Paul You could paint the edges before lifting the pattern. This should protect the top surface but not the bottom. I use blue painters tape under my patterns and make sure is it attached really good. Hope this helps.
