  1. Wished we lived a lot closer to each other. I have 2 working saws in my shop on the floor as back up. I could also take a look and probably repair yours. There are a lot of videos on youtube about the DW788 that are helpful. I don't own one but the comments were great as were the videos. Best of luck, I know the feeling of having a saw not working and the interenal need to feed the addiction.
  2. Been reading this. I doubt the photographer would give you any trouble. I have done this and seen it done many times over. SO ifg nothing else we would all be in good company and the jails would be way over crowded. I would be a lot more ocncerned if this was dealing with a ergistered logo then a family photo.
  3. Good information Dick. I don't cut puzzles but have been thinking about adding them to my arsenal. Thanks for sharing.
  4. Thanks Kebvin. Justy spent 10 days there and loved it. Seriously thing about moving there for health reasons for the wife. Definately doing the heavy research
  5. The Mrs. and I just pent 10 days visiting our son and grand children and was wondering if anyone had opinions of moving there, I learned the south side of the city is the place to be. Convienient to everything and the people seem nice. Any thoughts and input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Wayne
  6. Werlcome to the addiction Been here for a while and not looking back
  7. Very nice. Been there and done that. Teaches a lot more then meets the eye
  8. Nice looking shop. Organized. It does seem your saw is a little high to me, so tall stool or standing ? Looking forward to seeing the progress and your work when you get all straightened out. Wished mine was as organized and clean as yours. Even when I clean it, takes very little time to get it to mayhem again .
  9. I get my Baltic Birch from Rocklers. Pay a price for it thugh and I have to travel to get it. I use a lot of hardwoods of different species and pine also. I have a thickness planer so I don't worry about the original thickness. I do have access to a rgular lumber yard and get most of my hardwoods from them, a lot cheaper then the big box stores and much better quality. Most of it is rough sawn which don't bother me. I'll have to check out my Local Micheals to seeif they carry the baltic, a lot closer and from what I read here a lot cheaper. As you play around with different woods you will learn which you like and what blades and speed. I think we all went through a learning curve and all are willing to help when we can. The most important thing is to keep at it, pay attention and have fun.
  10. Hi Anita. Nice to meet you. My wife helps out too, no scrolling though. She also sands and applies finish, but her biggest thrill is telling I when made a mistake .
  11. Off to great start. Please post the inished shop. Looks like you going to have a place perfect for scrolling.
  12. Thanks for sharing. It is very very nice indeed. I think you did a great job and that frame colors are a great match.
  13. Was debating on which saw to order. The Ex or Hagner. Aftewr reading this I will follow my original dream and get the Ex - 21. Thanks for a great review and information. Wayne
  14. Hi Joe Welcome to the Village. My name is Wayne and I'm addicted to scrolling Honestly you couldn't have found a better place to be, learn and grow. So many Villagers here willing help you alo0ng the path you just embarked on. Welcome to the addiction. Most of all please have fun along the way Wayne
  15. Isn't amazing how you can ask for help and the villagers all gather around and pitch in
  16. Dick. I think we all go through that. After seeing it and wondering. I wondoer how many feel the same way. I do and blame it on having a senior moment . Seriously everyone has a different view pf things. Maybe that why we all work together so well.
  17. Good job Dick. Love the older cars.
  18. Beautiful work on that. One of my most favorite subjects. I use a lot of differnt finishes on my work. Spray poly, spray laquer, tung oil and so on. Try out on test pieces then compare them side by side. If your going to put a real candle behind it, allow enough space for safety and the heat. Keep us posted on what you chose and a finished photo please.
  19. Interesting work, looking forward to seeing the finished project.
  20. I have designed and cut my own work. As well as cut tons of patterns made from other sources, I do admit that the feeling when done is much greater when it is all you. But I also look at it as why re-invent the wheel. I guess when you advertise as custom orders gladly accepted, you never know what you are going to get into and some offer a great challange for you to learn and grow. Thanks for starting this thread, interesting reading.
  21. Still waiting to see wht the new blades will be like. Normally they would have been here by now. Hoping since I am out of #5 ur and still have a lot of work to do for a show Saturday. Really happy to hear the WTB is supplying good customer service. Mike was going to be a tough act to follow, he was simply the best to deal with. If anyone ever had the great experience to talk to him on the phone as I did. He was just a great person and a pleasure to deal with.
  22. The worst thing I ever went through was making a Queen Anne Table for our living room. Had to cut a 3"x3"x5" blanks down to 1 3/4" square. Had to remove the riving knife and guard on the table saw to do this. First 2 went perfect as did the first cut on the 3rd piece. Second cut, blade grabbed it, threw it and my left hand went in to the blade. Funny how you can remeber the teeth as they pass through your fingers. You can almost count them. Saved the three middle fingers on my left hand although now they are shorter by 1/8 of an inch. Will never be right, and years later still have issues. Greatful I have them and can still work but a huge lesson learned in the process. No matter how careful you are things happen. That was 4 years ago, the table is still not finsihed. But being kept as a reminder of a second of not paying attention.
  23. Absolutely beautiful. Touches the heart. Great job.
  24. I may just join Dick on this one. . thanks for sharing. What a novel idea !
  25. I just order a gross of #5 fd-UR. I'll let you know how they work out. Not in the trian of thought of switching suppliers at this time. everyone gets a bad batch now and then,
