  1. I picked one up yesterday. My Delta 21 inch is crashing out (again!) and I'm tired of messing with it. Figure if I'm going to get cheap Chinese tools I might as well pay cheap Chinese prices instead of Delta's inflated price. I've cut for about an hour with this and so far it's doing pretty well. It's quieter than the Delta for sure. The on /off switch being behind the speed control is unusual. It is also taking some getting to used to for the lift arm release. The delta I had to push the button when I lifted it, then just pop it and it would drop back down. The Bauer works in reverse. Just push the arm up and it catches then pull the ring and it drops down. With the longer front on the table it puts that ring a ways towards the back. I have long arms and it still can be an issue with a larger piece. I just tied a wire to the ring and mounted it to where it can be pulled from close by. Feels like a solid saw The body is pressed steel instead of mostly cast but the vibration seems to be minimal. I do have it screwed down to my base mount too. 82a4a72f-2f3b-4c44-8a7a-7c3f961022d1.jfif
  2. Plaque (one of three) made for a friends soccer team coaches. 18 inches tall. Birch plywood. #5 reverse tooth
  3. I think these are great and would love to see more! Well done!
  4. Thanks all for the kind words. Denny a friend of mine was a state wrestler in high school as well. He hated when we would square up because even though we weighed the same I was about a foot taller and was used to wrestling my 60 pound heavier (all muscle) five year older than me brother. He never could tie me up. Would always say "Damn it's like trying to wrestle wet spaghetti with how long your arms and legs are." (I'm 6'6")
  5. Did up this hanger for a friend's son. 1/2 inch birch ply. 19 inches tall. I added another strip to the back of the areas where the medals will hang just to make sure it doesn't sag over time. Used a French cleat setup for mounting. Glued and screwed that in for reinforcement. Having it bumped out like that also had the unintended benefit of making it easier to hang the medals without having to take the whole thing down to add another one.
  6. French Script MT is Word is the font. "Bold" was on for it. Yes it does a funny slash to make the cross of the T's LOL
  7. #7 reverse tooth. May not have been the best choice but it's what I had.
  8. Olson #5 reverse tooth. That's my go to general purpose blade. Roughly 20 inches wide as well.
  9. A friend had me make some atomic stars for her a couple years ago. I noticed the pattern laying around and figured I could make it into a 3-D ornament. Here's the result.
  10. Yes Thurman, each word cut out then glued to the backer. The stain color is called Briarsmoke btw. I had to look it up as well.
  11. Customer requested this verse and "something pretty in the corner."
  12. I use masking tape (found it works just as well as blue painters tape for half the price) and 3M77. Tape glue pattern drill cut. No wait, no lifting of the pattern, and it all pulls off easy when done. Less sanding to remove reside etc when using tape. I would stay away from the loctite glue as well as the Krylon spray adhesive. Neither of these gives me the instant hold that I am looking for. Plus the loctite is horrible for gumming up at the nozzle. Pattern will slide around or lift. I just tossed an entire can of the loctite spray glue. Hate that stuff
  13. Do you have an image or pattern for this? I'd love to give it a shot
  14. I use a ton of 1/2 inch birch ply. The largest blade I've used is a #7 Olson. Usually a #5 reverse tooth is good for most all of what I do. Sometimes the #7 will make the veneer pop off if they haven't glued it together well at the factory. I've also tried the Mach speed Olsons and it takes quite a bit of practice to get a straight line with them in thiner material.
  15. Hello all, so I had someone request an ornament that looks like a "country crock" butter tub. Apparently their daughter loves butter so much that they keep an industrial sized tub on hand at all times. I thought she was joking. Apparently not. Anyone want to take a crack at making this resemble an ornament??
  16. Thanks everyone. I've been trying an Olson #7 reverse tooth and usually just old bits of 2X4 cut down to 1 1/14. I don't use clamps just hold the piece. Usually it's long enough that I don't have issues hanging onto it. Just curious what everyone else was doing for things like this! Thanks again for all the info.
  17. Hello all, I've been trying my hand at 3-D cuts (ornaments and such) and am wondering what type of wood, blades etc everyone is using. All I have right now is some pine from 2x4's that I trim down to use. I've never tried balsa wood but I can't help but feel that it might work better and cut easier.
  18. Rodney, I basically would cut from an outside corner, where the leaf tip met the rim, down until the leaf meets stem then back up and cut the rim to the other leaf tip then go from there. Kept me from making that turn that put the piece against the back of the saw.
  19. I don't remember the link, but here's the image itself.
  20. Customer asked for a big tree of life pattern. Found this one as a black and white free image. Liked it so much she ordered four of them! 22 inches wide. 1/2 inch birch ply. #5 reverse tooth
  21. A friend asked me to make an urn for their mother's cremains. They will bury the urn in the casket with their father who has now passed. She picked a pattern from etsy (i think) and sent it to me. Building the urn itself was pretty straightforward but I was a bundle of nerves cutting this thin of a piece, especially the wing sections. Over all the box is 8 inches wide and 6 tall. Used a #2 reverse tooth. Solid maple for the construction as well as the cut. Planed the board to just under 1/2 an inch for the cut and inserts. Red mahogany stain on the insets top and bottom. They had the brass plate made and I also attached that. The name is blocked for family privacy.
  22. Just got this one done for a bass fishing tourney. Steve Goode pattern.
  23. Thank you again for the pattern. I appreciate your work! She loved it!
  24. Looks fantastic to me Paul! Thank you for your help! I'm sure they'll love it too. I'll make sure to share the cut when it's finished.
