Kevin, try mounting the blades a bit higher in the top clamp. Or, maybe switch to the Pegas clamps. It seems like the blades sit a bit higher using them. I seem to be getting about 6-8 of the reversed teeth on my EX. But, my table is much thinner than the Dewalt.

Anybody who is retired and on a fixed income automatically becomes a "skinflint" if they are at all intelligent. I still bend down and pick up pennies that have been cast aside by the millenials.

As far as I recall, the EX table is just flat steel. No ribs. Should be easy.

I feel your pain. When my wife and I decided that full-time RVing was going to work for us, I sold all of my tools. Everything we owned was either with us in the truck/5th wheel or in a 6 x 8 storage unit. That's when I found the hobby of woodcarving down in Texas. I ran into the Texas Woodcarver's Guild in an RV park on their semi-annual campout. They sparked my interest because it was something for me to do and it took no room at all. I still dabble with it but scrolling has taken me over almost completely. I do miss all of my tools and my shop space for sure.

Back when I first started hanging out here, I recall that Iggy was swearing by the Olsen Mach blades. I don't recall why but all he cuts is poplar in his puzzles. Since then I think he has switched over totally to the Pegas blades. Correct me if I'm wrong. It's starting to look like most folks on SSV are suing either FD or Pegas blades. Sort of leaves the Olsen and PS out in the rain.

It will be interesting to see how you feel about the EX after using it for a while. I know you love and are comfortable with your Hawk but the EX is so smooth and easy to work with. Please keep us updated on how you fare.

Without actually going out to my shop and checking, an idea pops into my head. There are only 4 countersunk holes in the table of the EX/Pegas and a hole for the blade to go through. If it is such a big deal, why not just re-drill the holes and move the table toward you and relocate it? Not a big job I would think.

Well, to answer your question, so far, I have not found that the small table is a problem. That's for me. I don't do large cuttings so that may be a problem if you do. So on here have managed to add a sub table to their saws. I don't have any intentions of doing that at this time. Also, I have a 26" Hawk if I need a bigger table. But up to this point, my EX has fulfilled my every need.

Jim, you might just take a minute and call Richard. Be sure to tell him you saw something on SSV. You don't have to mention my name. I told him that his company came up on SSV and that's how I found them. That way, he knows that we all know where to shop. Not to take anything away from the other vendors. They all do a great job. Give him a call to make sure your order doesn't get screwed up. I'd hate for that to happen.

Two days ago, I placed an order with QTE (Qtena).com for a gross of #3 mgt Pegas blades. I also wanted one dozen of the #1 blades but everytime I added the dozen to my order, in the cart I found that it had doubled my gross order to 2 gross. So, I added the single dozen by asking in the comment box. I explained that I was having trouble with the cart/order area. They hit my card for the $29.90 plus tax for the single gross but there was no extra charge for the single dozen. I figured they just missed my note. Anyway, yesterday, one day later, I received my order. The package contained the gross and the single dozen with a card attached. On the back of the card Richard noted that he was not charging me for the extra dozen blades to make up for my problem with ordering. That is a "stand up" company in my estimation. I will be buying all of my Pegas blades from QTE. It's the same company that I purchased my Pegas clamps from. Their service is top-notch. I realize that I live very close to them and that is probably why I got my order overnight but if they have what you order, in stock, it will be shipped out very fast. Give them a try. Best price around. But to keep their price down, they don't split gross orders. Richard explained to me that his best price from Grobet is in gross quantities but he is working on trying to get a better deal now that Bob Duncan has come on board with Grobet. I have no experience with the Seyco machine but I do have an EX21 that was made in Canada prior to the whole China/Taiwan debacle. I love it. I loved it prior to installing the Pegas clamps. Now, I love it even more. I don't see how I could possibly be happier with any saw. The only thing that might be better would be the customer service from Ray at Seyco. He seems to almost walk on water around SSV.

Kevin, I have a Delta planer and the blades have elongated holes that fit over the locating pins. I can slide the blades one direction or the other to offset them and avoid the nicks. I was thinking that as easy as it is to install or turn over the blades, why not use a half-used set of blades to rough plane wood that might have a piece of metal in it a couple of times through. If you have a bunch to plane that is. Then once you've "cleaned" the wood up, turn the blades over to the new/sharp side and do your finish planing. Just a thought.

You might try "staggering" your blades so that the nicks aren't all lined up. Doesn't take much to move the nicks to different "planes".

Me, being the "hoarder" that I am, I would have to toss an offer out. Maybe $50 or so. I love this stuff. It's probably not a bad saw even without all the upgrades that have been added to the present day saws.

I pretty much use the #5 mgt for everything. I've tried using other blades but they just don't perform for me in the woods that I cut. So far mostly maple, walnut, poplar, mahogany, red oak.

Dave, when I took the marquetry class, we used a 2/0 and a number 68 drill bit if I recall. I'm going to order some Pegas #1 mgt blades for any inlay work that I might do that is not super thin. For the super thin, I'll stick to the 2/0. This is not meant to be anything more than info.

Belt sander? Try to flatten them.

I sure wish we had something like that near where I live. It seems like the Mississippi River is the division between the West and all the great woodworking shows/schools. Nothing at all near me.
