First of all, welcome to the Village. Now, as to your problem, we might need a bit more info. And pics are always helpful. So, what brand/type of saw do you have, what blades and what wood? These all need to be answered. I know that I will hear different sounds when I'm cutting with or across the grain but not to the extent that you mention. Please add on here and we'll try to help. And the answer/s might help someone else who has had the same experience.

I've never bought from them but it's always sad to see any source go out of business. I wonder if anybody could take it over.

I was wondering about lubrication. I bought a saw and it came with a bunch of blades and big stick of wax that is labeled scroll saw blade lube. Any thoughts on this stuff? I've not used it yet and was afraid it might harm the possibility of finishing in some way.

Rolf, ask them to put back in "Letters to the Editor" also. Letters might give them insight as to what folks like or dislike and what we want.

There were quite a few of the low numbered issues that I wasn't able to get. How do you go about getting them digitally? I had no idea they were available that way.

Kevin, I had the exact opposite experience. They bent over backwards to keep me happy. I recently bought all of the back issues and I'm thoroughly enjoying them. Actually I feel that the older magazines were better than the new ones. I really enjoy the "letters to the editor". Too bad they don't really do that anymore.

I envy all of you "farmers". I always wanted to live that life but never got the chance. A few years ago our neighbors retired and bought a place in Tennessee that had been a tobacco plantation a century before. They bought 11 acres with a gorgeous restored farmhouse. It also included a 9 car garage/shed/lean-to. They are in " hog Heaven" and now have a bunch of critters and a wonderful garden. So I made this for them. It's really the first finished project I did so it's not very intricate. You all humble me by your work. This is a great topic Trevor. Thanks.

Help me! I'm sucker bait for these kind of things. Please, tell me why I should or should not buy this. I know it's an artist's easel but it sure looks like it could be used for maybe drafting or pattern design or ?????? For $28 it just looks too good to pass up.

I here ya but after living here since 1948, we've never been near a fire, never even had cracked plaster from an earthquake. But, we've experienced the horrendous stop and go traffic on all the freeways. There is no getting around that. So, we don't go anywhere. And that's fine with me. Now, if we still had our RV, then we'd brave the traffic on a night escape and be outa here for a while. I've been to Michigan and it is truly a beautiful place. For about half the year. Thanks, but no thanks.

Thanks for posting your great experience with buying from a place that I recommended Paul. They are a great source of scroll wood and if you need something not offered on their website, give Chris a call and he will do his best to help you out. I'm very lucky to be within driving distance of Cherokee Wood and I enjoy going there. I hope others will give them a try.

I think I'd leave it the way it is. I think it sets off the whole thing. A border without being a border. I like it fine.

I feel bad for all of you folks. I'm a wimp. I'm uncomfortable if it's below 65. I use a very small electric heater in my 9x13 shop. I keep the door & window closed because the ceiling is actually the aluminum awning and has plenty of vent holes. I inherited a small window a/c unit that I'm going to put through the wall for the "hot" months. My body thermostat has a comfort range that gets shorter every year. I'm old!

I loved it too. My youngest son and I built a layout many years ago. Took up most of his bedroom.

Is there anything you haven't been into? Now it's model railroading? I thought I had too many hobbies but you have surpassed me.

Ok now you have my mouth watering for some really good black licorice. I've been on Nutrisystem for a couple of months and I'm about ready for a "fall off the wagon day".

Do you recall where you found your material? I have not contacted any kitchen installers yet but it seems they may be the only ones who have any. Unless you want to spend $500 or more for a sheet of it. I would love to find some in the colors and sizes that I need but I think I'd have better luck finding snow in the Sahara.
