I posted a couple of my first projects on the General section before I realized that this was the right place. Now, I try to check here on a regular basis to see what others are doing.

I'm curious. I just went to the Seyco website and I can't find anything for "used" saws or anything else. Where do they list used stuff?

Stop me if I'm wrong but with a 5 year warranty, you shouldn't need a receipt because I don't think that saw has been around for 5 years. It's just not that old.

I'm not sure what you have done up to this point but saws with that type of mechanism will sometimes stop in a position of what I call "high center". Try sticking a flat blade screwdriver in the end of the motor. It should slide into a slot in the end of the motor shaft. Turn the motor a couple of rotations. Do this with the saw unplugged of course. Then plug it in and try again. It could also be worn brushes. Remove and inspect them. Blow out the holes where they go. As mentioned above check the fuse. Good luck and keep us updated on what you find.

Ok, I will but if I do, no making fun of my gaps in the flower. It was my first time doing this and I screwed up. After making the first one, I'll do things differently the next time. I tried to cut the outer petals from one piece of wood and one pattern. By cutting the center line between the petals, it made each one of them just a tiny bit narrower than they should have been. Next time, I'll do each one by itself with a separate pattern for each one. Live and learn. I also need to be more cognizant of the grain patterns so I can get them lined up a bit better. Maybe next time, I'll try to buy one piece of wood and cut/plane it so the grain is the same throughout.

I found this Gary MacKay pattern in an old SSWC magazine and decided to get my feet wet in intarsia. I have only applied one coat of Watco's natural. I can't decide if I want to shoot it with clear lacquer. Also, it sure would be nice to get hold of some wood that has color/grain that matches. I don't know how the writer did it. Oh well....... I still have to get some black felt to line the drawers and top compartment with.

Ok, let me amend my comment, I love looking at old machinery. No matter what it's made of. Sticks and rocks still fascinate me.

Kevin, many times those insulated pliers will get pin holes through the rubber coating from general use. If there is enough juice, it can find it's way through those pin holes and zap ya. I've pulled many a plug wire with my bare hands. I always made sure that I wasn't touching the cars body in any way though.

Keep checking Amazon. When I finally decided on which one to buy, I did some searching and luckily I found it on Amazon for just over $200. Now, it's over $300 but they do come on sale.
