  1. You're gonna love your new saw. Can't wait to see it.
  2. Welcome Jim from So Ca.
  3. Thanks Kevin.
  4. Many years ago, when we were living in Colorado Springs, Barb and I owned a Hallmark store. When we bought it, part of the inventory were some wooden candle holders that a guy was making on his lathe and putting them in the store on consignment. They were already priced when we took over and didn't realize that they were a consigned item. We got screwed on the deal because we sold them after paying for them in the inventory. Then one day, the guy comes in and wants his money after seeing that they were all gone. We felt bad enough about it that we paid him what he was due and just ate it. Anyway, if you go that route, make sure you have some sort of an agreement in writing and check your inventory on a timely basis. The folks we bought the store from turned out be real crooks and everybody around town knew it except us. Oh well..................
  5. But, you know how to fix clocks. I have a wall clock that we bought for our anniversary many years ago. I can't remember which one. It's a good clock but it stopped working and I know it just needs cleaning and lubing and whatever other feats of magic a clock person would perform. Unfortunately, we have it stored out in my shop, way up high on a shelf. Nobody around here that does than work anymore. SAD! I wish you were closer. I'd pay you to fix it. I'd love to give it to one of our kids.
  6. Be careful with Hegners. They have had a lot upgrades over the years. They are a great saw if you can find one with the latest additions. Take your time and read as much as you can on all the saws. There are really only 6-8 brands worth buying if you are serious about the hobby.
  7. Tru dat Paul.
  8. It's in a spreadsheet. I'll give it a try. Dewalt 788 bearing info.xls
  9. The man has no taste outside of his mouth.
  10. Les, you have a way with words. I love it.
  11. Congrats on the new saw. I hope it is all you expect it to be. Make something neat and post it for us to see.
  12. Thank you all for your kind words. As to making a second one, I have already had that thought as I look at this one and see the flaws and the places that I could improve on it. Since I started this one, I have added a laser printer to my office and I am getting much better scans and printouts of my patterns so the next one will be far better. My patterns all printed out on the old inkjet with blurry lines and some of the joints were a bit loose. The next one will be much better. I'm somewhat of a perfectionist. That's why it takes me so long to get things finished. I also want to try a different mix of woods. I like contrast and to me, this one is too much the same color. Thanks again everybody, you make it all worthwhile.
  13. Welcome to the best scroll saw group on the planet. Bar none. Every question will get an answer in time. I have become interested in the Eclipse scroll saw too. Since they are rare, I'm on the hunt. I don't need one but I love the search.
  14. Very nice Dan. I know what you mean about procrastinating too.
  15. Thanks Paul. I appreciate it.
  16. My wife saw this in one of my pattern books and said she would love to have one. So you all know what that means. I know I bugged a few of you about helping me with patterns for this one and I thank you for all your help. Also to those who "schooled" me on wood types and so on. You folks here on SSV have been so kind and helpful. I'm so glad I found this site. Here are a couple of pics. One was taken without flash and the one that shows up more red was with flash. I like it the best but my wife says she likes the one that isn't so red. So, I guess I got lucky. By the way, she is going to put a glass votive candle cup in it with one of those flickering battery powered candles. It should look nice. I think anyway.
  17. Barb, I'll get the info together and PM it to you.
  18. I watched the video again and I guess I have to agree that the whole assembly is moving at the base of the trunnion where it sits on the scroll saw base. It is not locking in even with all the pressure that is being exerted on the lock knob. If it were me, I'd return the saw for another one and hope the next one is better.
  19. I'm very lucky in that I have a great memory. I am also very good with numbers. That doesn't mean I'm a mathematician though. I just think logically so things are easy for me to figure out in most cases. For some reason, I have a tough time with Inkscape though. It is sinking in little by little. My biggest problem is that I am a bit impulsive. I tend to "jump" into things too quickly.
  20. Jim, I noticed the same thing. It's sort of like finding droppings near a termite nest. Always spells trouble. @barb.j.enders ,I have all the info for the different bearings, sleeves and where to get them if you need the info.
  21. We have Google Home, and I love messing with "her". I ask questions that she can't answer like "how high is up"? She's still ruminating over that one. Fractions can be tricky especially as the distance between when we were taught and the present day gets farther and farther apart. As the saying goes "another day goes by that I didn't use algebra".
  22. Just ask Google! LoL!
  23. I agree with Neal. I realize that you have put a screw/spacer through to hold it in place but I think something is wrong with that joint. Check it out and take another video.
  24. And I!
  25. For sure!
