  1. Regarding the question of dust control, I didn't add it to either of my saws for the health reasons. I just wanted a way to keep the flying dust down so the my shop stays a bit cleaner. I do wear a dust mask most of the time. At least when I remember to put it on. As to dust control built into the saws, those manufacturers who actually produce their saws like Hegner and Bushton/Hawk etc, why don't they design something that is an add-on to their product and offer it as such? I realize that building it into the saw increases the cost and the retail price. So, offer it as an add-on item and let the owner of the saw decide if they want to purchase it. No different than what the folks at ScrollNado have done. If we owners can come up with some sort of piping to keep the dust down, I'm sure the saw builders can do it too and probably come up with something better and maybe even quieter. Thanks for listening.
  2. I just sent them the link to this topic. They will enjoy reading all about themselves I'm sure.
  3. I love ingenuity and creativity. You have done well.
  4. That means so much to the customers to know that the company cares. Thanks for the update. So far, I've had no problem with either the set screws or the tips but now I'll be alert to the problem.
  5. Well, there are always smoke signals Les.
  6. They are situated about 50 miles from me and I had similar great service. I got my set in less than 2 days and when I have emailed them to ask questions, I get a reply the same day usually. Great people to deal with. Thanks to Iggy. I think it was him who recommended buy from QTE. They had the best price at the time.
  7. Thanks for the input. I would have to have you show me how to use it as I've never done anything with PowerPoint. I have it but that's as far as it's gone.
  8. I don't recall it being a metric. If I had to guess, I'd say 1/4 x 20.
  9. I will give that a try Roly. Thanks.
  10. Thanks Ivan, I have had it for quite some time and have been trying really hard to learn it. I'm getting there but still have a long way to go.
  11. Not boring at all. This is the info people need to make educated choices.
  12. Me too Paul. I tried to stop the magazine and could never get it accomplished. So, I put in a change of address and now my son in Colo. Sprgs. gets it. They were stacking up on me unread. I took the time to cut all the address info off the covers and donated about 12 years worth to the local library.
  13. Brenda, that is awesome. Thanks. I'll be there for the next month too.
  14. Jim, I realize I'm from California and you're in Texas so I'm a bit slower than you. Can you explain how to do that in Word? I tried it but I don't know all the ins and outs of that program so I'm missing something. I figured it out in Inkscape and was able to put the pattern pretty much where I want it to print so that works but I'd like to know how to do it in Word. I am running an old version 2003. My source for software passed away and I'm too cheap to buy a new version.
  15. So, I see I'm not the only one with this question. I just wrote an email to them asking about a digital version. I'll wait until I hear back. I was thinking of pulling all the patterns out, cutting them up and copying them. Then put them all in an envelope with the magazine number/date/etc. I love the idea of a digital download and that costs them nada. I'd even pay a bit. Not much, as I'm a cheapskate.
  16. TRU DAT Paul!
  17. So, say I want to make multiple copies of the same pattern and I can fit say 6-8 within an 8.5 x 11 piece of paper. If I pull it into Inkscape and do a copy, paste, invert and so on, I can put it anywhere I want on the paper and it will print that way?
  18. I know that many of you subscribe to Scrollsaw and Woodwork magazine so I was wondering how you use the patterns that are stapled in the center of the magazine. I hate to take them out of the magazine and possibly lose the connection between the magazine and the patterns. Do you take them out and copy them and reinsert them in the magazine or what. I know this may be a silly question but it's something that has been in my mind. It would be neat if the publisher would make them available for download online for anybody who is a subscriber. Or do they and I don't know it?
  19. I have been told that there is no dumb question. So, with that in mind, I ask this....When I print a pattern on either plain paper or the peel and stick shipping labels, the pattern always seems to print in the center of the page and it is a total waste of paper or whatever. Is there a way to tell the printer where to put the image that I want printed? I have been messing around with Word but so far haven't made any progress. I must admit being a bit ignorant on most software. So, knowing how smart you folks are, can you please give me some idea of how to go about this. I know it should be simple but please take it easy on me. Thanks in advance for any help.
  20. Thanks Brad. All good here. I haven't been out to the shop for a bit. I did get everything finished thanks to all of the help here. We have been muddling through some personal stuff here but I will be back to makin' stuff soon.
  21. I remember when you put that thing in last year. Sad to hear it's crap. When I had a real home/garage, I acquired an overhead gas furnace from a shop that was being torn down. It was a 110 volt blower. I hung it up in the rafters in my shop/garage. I never did hook up the gas line to it because I was told that if I ever had any kind of an insurance claim that I might have a problem. But I'll bet it would have worked great in my 3 car garage.
  22. Exactly. That and clean/sand the blades.
  23. Where ya located Scott?
  24. It's the same drill on the Dewalt. I guess I must have stronger fingers than most. I have always been able to R & R mine without too much trouble.
  25. Not me. I love coming here for the hobby content. I really like most everybody too.
