  1. I'm curious. Is he going to meet you half way again or do you have to go all the way to Waco?
  2. A very good reminder to everybody. I got tired of my lens cover falling forward so I put a mini bungy cord on it to keep it up. That was on my Dewalt which sits next to a south facing window. I did notice one day that the sun was being magnified a bit on the hard board cover that I put on my table top to keep it from rusting. I took the bungy cord off and let the lens cover do it' s job.
  3. Great advice Brad. I had no idea you taught. You never cease to amaze me.
  4. Hey Toothpick, where's your dust mask?
  5. After reading a lot on the subject, I went ahead and ordered a gross of those FD Polar blades yesterday in 3 sizes. I hope they are and do what everybody says they will. It makes sense to have a blade with the capability to clear the dust out of the kerf as fast as possible. I have been using a reverse tooth blade with pretty good success but now that I think back, it was a problem. I hope there are a lot of answers to your post.
  6. It takes practice to do those tight turns. It doesn't come at once. I am still fighting with it. The whole secret for me so far is to stop where I want to make the turn and apply pressure to the back side of the blade, spin or turn in place and then proceed. There are many videos on youtube regarding this. If you haven't watched them, I recommend that you do so. I think it's probably the toughest thing to learn. It is a "muscle memory" thing I think. You have to become one with your saw.
  7. I printed it out and never looked at it again. Experience is what will do more than anything else. First, decide what type of projects you want to cut. What material. Then, buy a gross of whatever blade you need to do your project.. More than likely, you'll end up with some kind of reverse tooth blade. I have homed in on the Pegas #5 MGT for what I like to do. I haven't done much of anything in BB so far. Mostly doing hardwoods. I like projects that fill a need of some kind. I don't do many wall hangers.
  8. Hey, I feel your pain. I guess I'm different. I would feel cheated if there wasn't something for me to fix. I like doing that. It also helps me to understand just how the saw works. What makes it tick so to speak.. I hope this all works out for you Dave. I know you are frustrated at the moment but you'll be happy in time. Take a breath. Or a shot of tequila. Whatever.
  9. Come on now Dave. You bought a "used car" and there are little things that might not be like a new one. Take your time and once it's all ironed out, you will be very happy. Sort of like kids. You gotta work with them to make them what you want. Sorta.
  10. They just had a bad run of blades and I'm sure it will all work out fine.
  11. Yes. I found out that without one, the next couple of days, my nose was semi clogged up. After blowing my nose and finding sanding dust in it, well, I decided to give my lungs a break.
  12. Thanks Fisch, I think all things happen for a reason so there may have been something wrong with that saw. The thing that I was most concerned about is/was there are 6 or 7 other Hegners for sale right now on C/L from a low of $150 (my saw) all the way up to $1800. He's dreaming. Anyway, why was this one so cheap as to compared to all the others. I'd have priced it in the $3-400 range. It had the upgraded quick release arm, the quick clamp and was a variable speed. It did need a bellows but that's only $42 plus shipping. Anyway, like you said, another one will come along. Not the $1800 one though. I can't believe he thinks he will get more than a brand new one. Geesh!
  13. No sweat then. I'll wait.
  14. Makes sense to me. Thanks.
  15. Hey, I'm almost famous! Why did my name pop up?
  16. Thanks for doing the due diligence on this subject. I don't dispute that you are more than likely correct but I was wondering if you went to a library and checked out the magazine and it still had all the patterns inside of it, would that not be the same thing? I'm not arguing, just trying to get the whole thing clear in my mind. I don't mind buying the magazine but if I already had it and let a friend borrow it, what would happen if he made a copy for his own use. Not to sell but to just use.
  17. If it was offered in one of their magazines, wouldn't it be public domain? I would think if someone here has the pattern, they could share it with anyone. Am I wrong?
  18. Those look great. I might have to make them be one of my next projects. Where can I get the pattern?
  19. Well, something came up and I wasn't able to get up to pick it up. I contacted the seller the best way I had but so far he hasn't responded. I think he's pissed at me and thinks I'm a flake. But, family does come first and it was a life threatening situation that had to be taken care of. I have emailed the seller twice but he isn't replying so I have to assume that it's not going to happen. But, I have a saying that everything happens for a reason so maybe I dodged a bullet. Who knows? Oh well................
  20. Congrats Dave. You're gonna love it.
  21. I think it was listed as a large and they didn't have any XL. I bought it hoping it would fit but I'm not happy with it. The one I posted the link to above fits much better, has a device that fits the back of my head so it stays in place. I can pull it down a bit on my nose so my glasses rest on top of it. I have a "fatty" face so I have a bit of a problem getting a mask that fits well. I am very happy with the one I have now. The first one, well, it just didn't work the way I had hoped.
  22. I just cut some mahogany in 3/4 x 1 1/2 and I used Pegas #5 mgt. I love these blades. They seem to be good for most anything so far. But, I'm a newbie so take it for what it's worth. I had to cut 8 of the same thing in compound 3-D cuts. Here is what I was cutting.
  23. At the time, the only size offered was the one I bought. I think it was a medium.
  24. Well, there ya have it. The experts have spoken. Disregard my comment on epoxy. I was just a suggestion. I have no experience.
