For small projects I agree. But, this is going to be applied to the cart I just built. A large area and hard to contain the spray/fumes etc. That's why I thought it would be better to brush/roll it on. Also get a thicker coat that way. I'm going to apply primer first no matter what way I go. Thanks Crupiea.

Maybe that's all I need though. I'm not a production guy. I just want to be able to paint stuff.

As far as I know Dave. I haven't heard anything about them being illegal. I know we can buy rattle cans of anything. I wonder how much better your system is than a Wagner. Have you ever compared?

How much air compressor does it require. I just have a small oilless compressor that I carried when we were on the road. It's a 6 gallon tank and not a fast recovery at all. Never mind that question Dave. I just watched their video and I see it's all self contained. Neat deal. I might have to look into one. Thanks.

Tell me about your spray outfit. Sounds interesting. Is it one of those turbine contraptions that cost as much as my rent?

On that same track of thinking, I took my clamps screws, both sides, and hit them with some 150 paper to "rough" them up a bit. I read that somewhere that to polish them would make them lose their gripping power. I also take a couple of swipes at the ends of my blades to rough them up and make sure there is no oil on them. So far, so good. I only want to get the knobs for the comfort of how they feel as opposed to the "wing" style knobs. In the end, it's a matter of what appeals to each user. For my Dewalt, I took a couple cherry scraps that I had and traced the pattern of the wing screws on them and cut out the pattern to fit the screws. I shaped them into larger wing screws that better fit my fat fingers and thumbs. Then I epoxied them in. I had never given any thought to creating a vibration problem and I guess I got lucky. No vibration that I could feel.

I get it. I had to ask though. Family is the best reason. We wanted to live close to our son in Colo.Sprgs. but we couldn't find an area in the town that we liked that was affordable and it snows there too. So, he and his family will have to come here to visit.

Howdy, I'm finishing up a project and I want to paint it in 3 bright colors. Red, white, and blue. I want it to shine. So, my question is.....should I use enamel or ???? I haven't painted anything in a bright color in years. The last time, you could still buy oil base paint with lead in it. So, now I'm sort of at a loss as to which I should use. I hate the cleanup using turpentine or paint thinner. Water based enamel? Acrylic enamel? Rustoleum? Can anybody help me out?

I have no idea what a "piercing" saw is. Can you post a pic?

I used tung oil and spray shellac on my last project. Which was also my first project. The little basket that I made.

Which one of the non-Hawk knobs weighs the least? Also, do either of them increase vibration at all?

Just to maybe jog someone's memory, this is the Steve Good pattern that Dick is talking about but with some modifications.

Dick, back in 07 I retired from the tool business. We knew at that time that without and income, we wouldn't be able to keep our house in So.Cal. The property taxes alone would have been out of the question. Anyway, we already had a big 5th wheel trailer and a CC dually pickup so we sold everything. I mean everything, and hit the road in search of that "perfect place" to retire to. Long story short, we found many places that were wonderful. For about 6 months out of the year. We ended up coming back to So. Cal. and found a great mobile home community a mile from the beach. It's not perfect but the weather is. There are many times in life that a person must make sacrifices in order to continue on. This was one of those times. We hate the politics, the crowds and the high cost of living. But the weather is unbeatable. Especially for us at our age. We are now closer to 80 than we are to 70 so comfort is all important. And, my wife is very happy as am I. Sure, I'd love to have my big old 3 car garage back but I'm very fortunate to have what I have now. When you are happy, nothing else matters. That's my story, and I'm sticking to it.

I'm thinking that many times folks use a heat gun to take glued furniture apart so I guess it's possible. Now, I would think that epoxy would be the answer if you are going to be hanging that thing back in the same place. Not sure about contact cement. But epoxy should work.

Just for the heck of it, I went over to advanced Machinery and priced the ones from Hegner. Of course, they come with the clamp but $34.95 is a bit much.

That's the same can that I have had spatter problems with too Kevin. I've never seen the Gorilla spray before.

I see a lot of folks using those knurled aluminum knobs. Where do you get them? I must have overlooked them at some point.

I don't do intarsia. Yet. But, I can see where this might have its uses for other projects. Thanks Dave.

They don't look that much different than mine. I use the flat cartons from Costco.
