  1. I like it. Plain and simple is the best way. Ray
  2. I don't know. I'll have to check and get back to you. It was the cheapest on the shelf. Ray
  3. If I want to buy one, where would I go? Is it a Staples item or a specialty? Ray
  4. I can relate. 48 in and working on 49. I also have what they call "selective hearing". I seem to miss a lot. Ray
  5. Well, I like the magnifier as much as the light. Just a suggestion. Ray
  6. Rocky, I bought mine at Walmart too and it doesn't say Duck on it. Still works great though and it was only $5.65 a roll. 12" x 36 feet if I recall. Ray
  7. I heard somewhere that the Chevy Volt is going to come out next year with a drill chuck in the front and a sander in the rear. Just sayin............. Ray
  8. Me too Rocky. I like it here so much that I don't get a lot done. Ray
  9. I dropped out of college physics class because I wasn't getting how to do logarithms on my slide rule. After the teacher had gone over it twice I asked him to do it one more time because I just wasn't understanding it. He told me that if I couldn't do it after twice, I'd never get it. That was my last day in college. I went out and found another way to make a living. Ray
  10. I can tell, you were never an air traffic controller were you?
  11. Thanks for that input there Scrappy. I love a man of few words. Ray
  12. I'd stay away from that chair. The back is way too low. My neighbors have bar stools with low backs like that and I can't sit on them for more than a few minutes before my back starts screaming. For my low saw, I have an old office chair that has a high back. It's the new one that I just bought. It's a Hegner on the tall stand and I tried standing by it yesterday for less than an hour before my back started hurting. I may have to forego the Hegner stand for another home made one like my Dewalt. I was hoping not to have to do that. Ray
  13. Tell me more Kevin. I don't understand what a 10's unit is. Ray
  14. My wife has prednizone around for her rheumatoid arthritis. Maybe I'll snag a couple of them from her. I know it's not a good drug to take on a regular basis. How about chiropracitic? How many of you do that? I used to go years ago but I decided I was being milked for my money. I want a couple of treatments then stop until needed again. No prolonged programs. Who has that kind of money? Ray
  15. How do you folks work in your shops without making your back scream at you. I can't stand on my feet anymore. If I sit, it makes my back sore. Anybody have any input on how you help your back? I inherited my Dad's bad feet so I have a terrible time getting shoes that are comfortable too. I'm a mess. I'm just curious as to whether anybody else fights the lower back pain. Ray
  16. Check this out. New listing 21 hours ago. Heck of a good price. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/tls/d/rbi-hawk-scroll-saw/6474200280.html Ray
  17. I was with Snap-On Tools back then and I bought one of the first Makita's. It was orange. Came in a metal box. That battery lasted until the drill finally wore out. The 9.6 of that same vintage was a winner too. Ray
  18. Quit yer bellyachin'. You got a heck of a deal. Especially if the controller turns out to be ok. I have my fingers crossed for you. As for a light, go to Harbor Freight and buy the one they sell. I have one and it works fine. I did get a light with the Hegner that I just bought. And a foot switch. I saw a couple of Heg's in Az. for $550 and $600 and they didn't have what mine has. Ray
  19. What kind of car are you driving that it would burn through that much fuel? Ray
  20. I tried following all the rules on every kind of battery from the nicads all the way through to the lithiums. I never had any luck with any of them until the lithiums came out. They finally have them perfected in my book. I have two 20 volts B&D batteries for my two drills and saw. I never charge them unless I have used them pretty hard. Then I charge them until I need them again. No hard and fast rule. They are doing fine and are each over 3 years old. I bought the two drills on a close out at H/D for $20 each. If the batteries go bad, I'll just buy a new drill even if I have to pay full price. Black and Decker is outstanding in their customer service. Another story though. Ray
  21. I see a second saw in the offing. Or she'll just take over yours. Good luck with the new hobby and saw. Ray
  22. Don't apologize for not knowing everything from the start. I'm a very new scroller and so far, I've not accomplished much more than making some friends here on SSV. I have two saws and haven't truly finished anything. I've got a lot of great starts though. It's the finishing process that bogs me down. There are no "dumb or stupid questions" or so I was told a while back. Have fun. That's the main thing. Ray
  23. I bought a large can of 77 at H/D about a year ago and paid $10. I thought that was expensive. Ray
  24. Check this out. New listing 21 hours ago. Heck of a good price. https://sfbay.craigslist.org/nby/tls/d/rbi-hawk-scroll-saw/6474200280.html Ray
  25. When you say that the 3M 77 is messy, what did you mean? And how is the 44 not messy. I'm just asking because I bought the 77 when everybody was suggesting it. There are a lot of others on the market that are much cheaper. I also bought the shelf liner that Iggy suggested and it seems to work great. Ray
