  1. The first link you posted above has an English button on the left side bottom. It might be exactly what you want. Ray
  2. Well, it's good to stay busy as long as "busy" isn't all "honey-do's".
  3. Well, I like that first one. Dimmable.
  4. I watch the C/L here where I live and it seems like the old ones are still going for anywhere from $150 to $400. Of course, that's what they are asking. I have no idea of what they actually sell for. But, I'll bet you get your $200 back with no problem. And, I'll also bet that you don't have to buy a new controller. You must have a friend who is into electronics that can fix it for ya. If you can't that it. I recently fixed our furnace with a simple clean out of the gas jet. Last night at our neice's house she was mentioning that her furnace was doing the exact same thing as ours did. I told her that it was an easy fix and I'd be glad to do it. So there is always a way. Thank God for Youtube. Ray
  5. J.T. I'm not sure of how much you have to pay for them at the show but I bought one at Harbor Freight for under $40 with their coupon and it works great. Not L.E.D. though. I am researching a bulb to replace the flourescent when it dies. Ray
  6. Organization is a great thing. Someday, I might try it. Ray
  7. Rocky, I talked to my son in C.Springs yesterday and he said the same thing. He has lived there since 91 and he thinks it's been the mildest, driest season that he can remember. Very dry. Ray
  8. You won't be sorry.
  9. Heck, figuring that you will get in the neighborhood of $300 apiece out of your old ones, you'll end up making money. Ray
  10. Why does he feel that it needs a controller? It probably is just corroded. A can of contact cleaner may be the answer if that is the case. Good on ya for hopping on it. Congrats. I hope it is nothing too serious. Keep us updated. Ray
  11. It was sort of that way when I was in the tool business. One of the best companies at the time for me to deal with was Makita. They had/have their headquarters very near me. I use to go to all the woodworking shows when they were still in existence and one time I met up with a rep who also gave me his card. Just for the heck of it, I called him not long afterward. He and I talked at great length about problems, suggestions and many other areas of concern. I got the feeling that what I said at the time actually meant something to him because I got a questionaire from him wanting more details from me. I did actually see some of my suggestions get implemented in their tools. But, My one bitch to this day is that their batteries were outrageously expensive and did not hold a charge. I ended up tossing my Makita drills and batteries. Of course, that was before the lithium batteries came on the market. Now, I buy the cheapest cordless drills I can find. At this point, I'm sold on Black and Decker 20 volt lithium. I bought two of them, extra batteries and also the cordless 5 1/2" saw that uses the same battery. I could tell you another story about their cordless vacuum too but I've already taken up too much of your time. Ray
  12. How many bedrooms do you have? Maybe an indoor shop/hobby room is in the offing. Good luck. I hope you get it. Ray
  13. Randy, I have watched and read many articles on doing it with thicker material and it's really the same. If you are truly interested, buy the book by Craig Vandall Stevens called "The Art of Marquetry". It's very well done with excellent photography. After going through the class, I bought the book and I could see that Ken Cowell patterns his class after the book. I think I found mine on Amazon for about $15. There might be used ones available too. Very good book. I just watched the video that Scrappile mentioned above and downloaded it. I'll post it here if you don't mind. Ray DoubleBevel.mp4
  14. He has about 10 of them in his garage where he puts on his classes. I was intrigued by the foot powered one though. I had never seen one like it before. Ray
  15. Jbrowning, I'd go collect aluminum cans or something. That is too good a deal to pass up. Figure out a way. Heck, you could even make money on it if you didn't want to keep it. I wish I was closer. I don't need it but I'd buy it anyway. Ray
  16. Rocky, go for it. Read what was said above. It's more than likely just a worn rheostat. A few bucks at most. Ray
  17. Yes for sure. Probably an easy fix. A great saw for a couple hundred bucks. I should send my son up there and buy it. Ray
  18. That's a great idea and a very lucky find. What size diameter is your Loc-line? I'm using 3/4". I'm going to try 1/2" on the Hegner. Ray
  19. Scroll saw. My wife and I were at the Orange Country fair a couple of years back. There was a man there doing scroll sawing on a home made saw that he powered with one foot. At any speed he wanted to within reason. As slow as possible for what he was doing. When I got interested in watching him, he explained what he was doing. Marquetry/inlay. He gave me his card and said I should attend one of his classes sometime if I was truly interested. So, that began my scroll saw hobby quest. His name is Ken Cowell and he does some beautiful work. He saws/planes/sands all of his veneers from exotic woods and sells them. His veneers are all pretty much less than .0625. Ray
  20. This is an excellent tutorial Hotshot. Thanks for posting the link. I took a class in marquetry which is essentially the same thing. I really enjoyed it. Ray
  21. I have no blood in my veins. I run totally on coffee. Without my coffee, I would never get going. And keep going. Luckily my wife is just like me. Gotta have coffee. Ray
  22. Hey Hotshot, your link is broken. Try it again please. Ray
  23. I'd be interested in seeing it. I don't see where there is any way to adjust the back of the table either up or down without filing or some other method. I hate to alter the parts of the saw to make adjustments. Ray
  24. Thanks everybody who posted. I did get in touch with Wolfgang and he pretty much told me as much. I guess at the rock bottom of the RPM dial, there is more of a hesitation that as you rotate the dial upwards. I was just concerned that there might be something wrong. Ray
  25. Quite a coincidence Scrappie, I just watched a video on youtube yesterday and he offered a freebie of a "widget". I asked him to email it to me and he did last night. A fun little project. Ray
