  1. I thought the Festool was supposed to be quiet. I have a Fein and it's fairly quiet.
  2. @Rolf has a nice system on his Hawk and he built a "catcher" into his prior to the catch tank so that if he does lose something, he can retrieve it from there instead of the big tank. He used a piece of PVC with a screen in it. There are pictures somewhere here on the village but Lord knows where.
  3. I'm not familiar with the Chinese Ex's but could it be a "push on " knob? Maybe just needs to be pulled off. @kmmcrafts is the guy to ask. He has one and has been through it completely.
  4. Good on ya Mate!
  5. I'll take your word 4 it.
  6. I did not know that. Has nothing to do with density?
  7. A Japanese Kobundō (小分銅), 95–97% gold, "Paulownia" Kiri (桐) mark, Kikubana (菊花) emblem, 373.11 grams, Japan It is important in China, Korea, and Japan for making the soundboards of stringed musical instruments such as the guqin, guzheng, pipa, koto, and gayageum.[5] More recently it is used as body material for low-cost electric guitars,[21] as the core for lightweight touring skis,[22][23] and for surfboard cores.[24] It is used in guitars as the core body, then laminated under a more durable wood.[21] I wonder why it is considered "hardwood".
  8. I figured out that when the name pops up, you have "select" it and then it turns blue. Lesson learned.
  9. @Dave Monk, you're the inlay pro. Waddaythink?
  10. Balsa wood is extremely light and soft, They make model airplanes out of it. Basswood is harder and is the wood of choice for carvers. They other one you named, I've not heard of it. Best of luck to you.
  11. I'm still confused. Couldn't Denny have just sent you a Pegas bellows? Many of the parts on the Pegas are interchangeable between brands. Not sure about all but I'd have thought the bellows might have been the same. Just asking for future needs as I have 2 Ex's and if I can buy parts from Denny it becomes another source.
  12. Ok, I'll find something you did wrong. I'll need pics from all sides. Lol
  13. Welcome to the club, Paul.
  14. You're doing great and I for one am enjoying your enthusiasm. Keep it up.
  15. If I'm reading this correctly, you have an Excalibur 16. Am I to understand that the Pegas bellows is different? I'd have thought they would be the same. Curious!
  16. Don't you mean 4 x 8 Paul? Never seen anything 8 x 8.
  17. That's beautiful Rolf. Great work. Thanks.
  18. As we live & learn. Great story. Yeah, me too but after watching many of his videos I now get it. I won't be needing to do any of that because I'll only be working with wood. I do have one project that my wife wants done though. We have a metalwork tree on the front of our home that has become weathered so I'm going to try to do some antiquing on it. Gray, brown, green. Here's a pic.
  19. I cut that same pattern out of 1/4 bb.

  21. I can see clearly now........
  22. I just pulled the trigger on this kit. They are currently sold out but should be back in a couple of weeks. For $40, how can you go wrong? For the time being I'm going to use my 2.5 gallon compressor and dial it way down. I want to get a feel for using an air brush and also thte cheapy set from Harbor Freight. I have got to figure out what paints to buy. Probably a basic set of acrylics from Hobby Lobby to start. Something that can be cleaned up with water.
  23. To answer your pricing question, if you have no plans to replace your wood, sell at the old price. Otherwise, raise your prices to reflect replacement cost. You never see gas stations selling gas at yesterday's price. Always based on replacement cost.
  24. Thanks to all. Info is gold. I appreciate all the input. I'm not artistic at all but I thought having the ability to add color might be nice. My luck with spray cans hasn't been favorable so having a more controllable method makes sense. I've always wanted an air brush. I should have bought one back when I was selling tools. I could have saved 40% and all the price increases since then. Lol.
  25. I'm thinking the same Kev. I also bought that cheapo set with 5 bottles so I should have all bases covered. I'm trying to decide on a compressor and I like the idea of having one with a tank to keep the cycling down. I know when it does run that it will run longer. The Zeny at $87 is pretty nice and was recommended. I'm also looking at a Wagner folding booth. All I will need is space and that is a constant battle.
