  1. Sometime back, there was mentioned, many times, something called "project panels" or boards and they were found at Home Depot. I don't recall who was using them but if somebody could chime in and tell me the proper name for these boards, I'd appreciate it. I went to H/D and asked the folks in the lumber department about them but all I got was blank stares. I'm in need of some of these boards. They were veneered in different hardwoods, maple, walnut oak. I know I'm old but come on, did I just imagine it? Help!
  2. It's nice to hear about good customer service. We all need to spread the word regarding both good and bad service.
  3. Fantastic work. Can't wait to see what comes next.
  4. No vibration?
  5. Thanks Kev, will do.
  6. Ok, for anybody who has been following this thread and is interested, I just went through the entire parts list along with numbers and sizes etc. between the Excalibur owner's manual and the Jet owner's manual. The list of parts is exactly the same for the basic saws. If Jet changed anything on theirs, I didn't find it. Anyway, the bearings and sleeves appear to be exactly the same for both saws. I found a supplier online for the bearings and I think it is the same supplier that I have had some correspondence with. They are VXB in Los Angeles. Right now, unless my figures are wrong, a person can purchase all the bearings necessary to rebuild their Excalibur saws for $62.67 plus tax and shipping. As for the sleeves, I will have to contact Jet to see what they are going to charge for those parts. I would be surprised if they are going to charge more than Dewalt and probably will charge less. Who knows? I'll try to contact them tomorrow and see. I'll be back, so the saying goes.
  7. I've serviced both saws. I'm just trying to be proactive. Does the package from Seyco include any sleeves? They seem to be the bug-a-boo. If the bearing fails, chances are good that the sleeve is badly worn too.
  8. 3 hours ago, Denny Knappen said: I suggest checking with Ray at Seyco. He sold EX21s and no, also Pegas. He should be able to help. It sounds like Jet will be of the most help. It's odd that Pegas has no parts/service available for owners to repair their "out-of-warranty" machines.
  9. I had one of the original ones many years ago. It was meant to be mounted on a bench grinder shaft. I never did use it and it got sold in our estate sale before going out on the road. It was a neat and well made tool. @Scrappile, the brushes mount behind the sand paper and support tbe paper fingers.
  10. I recall that Kevin. What I'm trying to ascertain is all the individual parts. I see no reason to buy assemblies if not needed. I want to buy a complete set of bearings and sleeves just to have them on hand. HAving 2 Ex's, it would be nice insurance and not have to wait on shipping when the time comes. Somebody must have done some research into this at some point. I wrote to General International yesterday but who knows if they will ever answer. Contacting Pegas seems to be impossible too. I'm hoping Denny might have some ideas.
  11. Has anybody ever verified, one way or another, will Pegas internal parts interchange with non-Chinese Excalibur saws? I'm referring to Canadian/Taiwanese manufactured saws. @Denny Knappen, anything?
  12. Hawks take some learning on setting blade tension. One you have it set at the rear of the saw you shouldn't to touch it again. There is a video on bushton.com.
  13. Tempered glass breaks easily if struck just right. A sharp hard point is all it takes.
  14. Beautiful work. Unique idea too.
  15. Getting old frightens me.
  16. I've not heard of Grok. How do you access it?
  17. We have the same problem. Been collecting for years but can't sell any of it. The stuff I've collected will go to my sons. Guy stuff.
  18. I just did the rubber band trick and have no problems with either of my EX's.
  19. Have you bought any from Cherokee? I bought some 24 x 24 in pieces both 1/8 and 1/4 and it seems to be good. I have used it all to make tissue box covers and I've had good luck. My only problem is my table saw can't seem to cut anything perfectly square. I fight that a lot. Not like my old Unisaw for sure. That thing was dead on.
  20. When I first got interested in scrolling, I took a class from a guy who got me into marquetry. He suggested to all of us to get the tiny countersink bit that Dremel has and use it to countersink the holes. I have been doing that ever since. It works with very little pressure on the wood. I would think that you take a chance of poking the point clear through the 1/8" BB.
  21. I found it on Amazon too. Thanks to all. Much appreciated.
  22. I have done a couple of her bowls from patterns in magazines. Whenever I have had a question, I emailed her and she has always responded. It may take a few days but when she has time, she replies. I hold her in high regards also.
  23. Thanks Jerry. I posted this hint about 8 years ago and got no response. I guess you must be the only person who reads my stuff. LOL.
  24. I've been sworn to secrecy.
  25. When installing one of the tiny blades we all use, I verify which way is up and then attach it to a pocket magnet. That makes it much easier to hold while mounting the blade in the saw. Try it. It works.
