  1. Thanks to all. I now have the pattern in hand. SSV comes through again!
  2. I just got one of her books but it wasn't in it. I did notice that cut most of the pieces in the book. Very nice.
  3. Yup. No response.
  4. I was browsing Marketplace last night and came across someone selling their Hegner saw. They put up a picture of it along with some other pics. One of them is this pic of a 3-D scrolled clock. I would like to find the pattern and thought maybe someone here has it or can guide me to where I can get it. Thanks for any help. This looks like something that would make a great gift. I would also like to find a source for the clock once I have the size nailed down.

  6. Thanks for giving it a try and reporting back. I'm curious to try corrigated cardboard.
  7. Outrageous! The times we live in.
  8. I already have a Delta saw and like it but thanks for taking the time to offer up a critique. Keep us updated on how it goes as time flies by. I bought mine 12 years ago, used, and had to do a major clean and adjust on it but it has done a great job for what I use it for. I have not done any re-sawing yet but plan to at some point. I use it mostly for those quick cuts that I would otherwise have to set up my jobsite table saw. Mine does not have any drift so it works well doing cut-offs and short rips. At this point, I still don't have a fence but I do use one of the 18 inch bar magnets purchased from H/F. It works just fine.
  9. Too late!
  10. Paul, I am talking about the board used to slow down the fuzzies. A sacrificial backing to replace using thin cheap plywood. It was just an idea that popped into my head. I do not do this type of scrolling but a project that I'm going to undertake will require using a sacrificial piece so I just thought about what might work that isn't wasteful. I'm a cheapskate.
  11. Once, when I wasn't payibg attention, I was pushing at the end of a cut and pushed my thumb into the blade. I got a bit of a cut but nothing to write home about. It drew blood but not much.
  12. I will have to give it a try. I don't see it being any kind of influence on the blade. I might be wrong but it's worth a try.
  13. You did a great job on that. She will love it!
  14. I think it might have been addressed on scrollsaw.com. lots of info there.
  15. Are you sure that is a crack? It looks more like where two pieces of wood were glued together. Look at the two different grain patterns. No where close to the same. I don't think it's a crack.
  16. Contact Bushton Mfg.
  17. All I got was a 15% off any single purchase. I'm going to buy the Bauer tire inflator.
  18. Kevin, I'll bet IKEA has just what you need. Check out their website.
  19. Please understand that this was just a question/suggestion thing. I've never tried it but will give it a go on my next project. I don't do the type of work that generally requires a sacrificial piece of wood. So, the idea of something cheap came to mind and I thought I'd toss the idea out there. I think my wife has a Chewy order out there so if the box is in good condition, that will be my supply of cardboard. Fingers crossed. Another thing that came to mind is card stock. I had some patterns printed on card stock at FedEx and it seems like it would hold up well so that might work out too. Anything that saves on the cost of goods.
  20. 39 minutes ago, Roberta Moreton said: Cardboard will show ridges. I tried it. Didn’t like it. You want it to look smooth. I'm not sure what you mean. Can you elaborate? I'm only thinking of using it to back up the underside while cutting. Not for a backer for the finished product.
  21. I can at least pull for Martin Truex one more time.
  22. I know I throw away a lot of good flat cardboard boxes. Amazon and Chewy come to mind. Why not cut the good flat sides from these boxes and use them for backer boards when cutting BB plywood? I would think it might work well and save a lot of good wood for other things. I myself don't do that many projects like that but I do have one coming up soon where I will be stack-cutting some 1/8 in pieces. It would be such a shame to waste some good wood as backers. What say you all?
  23. You would be better off with the right Hawk saw. If you aren't in a big hurry, I'd keep looking. Where are you located? I saw some great deals today in my area. One was a newer Hawk with all the bells for $75 because the seller is moving and needs it gone. I was tempted but already had a 226 Ultra and sold it because it was too big for my shop. I'm in So Cal.
  24. I miss his show.
  25. That's a very old version of a very good saw. The asking price is too high. Hawk makes great saws but have improved many things over the years so you need to do some homework if you want a Hawk. Bushton Mfg. is the latest owner of the brand and has a website where you can look up the serial numbers to see what vintage the saw might be. $250 - $500 is the price range for a good-condition saw that has all the latest upgrades. They make a 20 and a 26-inch saw. There is a ton of info here to read but it will take some time. The saw you pictured would not be my choice. Best of luck.
