    There are many folks here who have vented over this same problem. I can't figure out why they don't have a way to download the patterns. It would have to be cheaper in the long run.

    I would also take a very hard look at Hawk. There are a lot of great deals on used Hawks, but before buying one, check here for what to be aware of. They are an American-made tank and parts are not a problem.

    Hmmm, my car has a rattle somewhere. What's wrong with it? That is about what you said regarding your saw. If there was a problem, it was all in your 1st sentence. We all try our best to help but the person seeking help has to do their part too.

    Kev, if the hard drive is still intact you didn't lose your data. It's recoverable.

    IF I were in the market for a saw, either a first saw or a replacement, and funds were limited, I would buy one from Harbor Freight. It seems that so far there are no negative comments on their new saw. As long as they will supply parts that is.

    Reading everything you guys have written makes me wish we could all start over again. I too took all those same claases in high school. The powers that be did a huge disservice to the youngsters when they discontinued all the classes that truly counted. I wonder how many folks use algebra in their everyday lives. It's still required. Duh! So sad what has happened to our school systems.

    I'm not sure what I'm looking at in your pics. Maybe not so close up or another pic or 2 showing what area the pics are looking at. I'm a bit confused about what you are fixing now. Maybe Kevin gets it but I don't.

    When facing the saw from the operator position, on the left side at rear there are some bolts. One of the has a slot in it and a lock nut. Loosen the lock nut and turn the bolt/screw with a flt screw driver. Once loosened the upper arm should move through it's entire range freely. Now go back and slowly turn the screw back in until there is just enough drag on the arm to hold it in the up position. Now lock the nut while holding the screw at that point. There should just be enough drag to hold the arm up. I hope this helps. I may have missed but where was your saw made? Canada, Taiwan or China are the only 3 choices. If it came from China, I'd definitely talk to Kevin about what to change out. Since you got your money back you have wiggle room to fix the saw up and have a good machine when finished.

    I have removed every guard from every tool I own. It makes me be more alert and not depend on things that either don't work or just plain get in the way. So far I have all my digits and everything I was born with.

    I'm sorry for the loss of your friend. Before doing anything permanent, I'd check with the cemetery to see what they suggest. They may have rules regarding what can be done. You did a very nice job on that cutting. Your friend would be proud.

    That's the exact mask I've been using for almost 10 years. I've never changed the filters. Not sure when or how to know if they need changing. I can still breathe through them just fine. I also have an overhead air cleaner right above my saws.

    Ever since someone tampered with the Tylenol bottle 50 years ago, things have gone down hill. Please, in my lifetime, get back to sensible easy-open containers. And Kevin you are so right about squeeze bottles. It's all or nothing.

    Would be possible for you to take some pics of your saw, including i.d. plate and part needed?

    Ours too and it seems to cut like wood with no melting.
