  1. What magazine is this? I didn't think there were and scroll saw mags left.
  2. Nice work, Like your drying tree. Give me an idea.
  3. Welcome to the forums I'm pretty new myself. I Craig from NY (state). Great folks here.
  4. Believe it or not I have found it at (wait for it) Home Depot! I almost fell off the motorized chair! They have craft wood from time to time. I don't know if this is a regularly stocked item but I was shocked.
  5. Kevin, wonderful work as usual my friend, I would like to try a compound piece, when I can find one suitable for a beginner.
  6. It's just Earl
  7. I only wish I could paint like your Mrs.
  8. Kevin, Great work as usual but I have to ask, How many hours a day do you sit at the saw? I haven't had time to finish a project since I got my Hawk running.
  9. Parts are still available for the older hawks from Hawk Woodworking in Kansas.
  10. Wow! I thought I did good at 200.00. Congrats on the find.
  11. Very nice set up Im very glad you did well. On another note, where can I get patterns for those puzzle boxes? I have been looking for then for a long time.
  12. It looks like Mike's site is offline for now.
  13. I carve wooden signs in relief as a side business (see below),but don't build too many other things because I really don't have the tools for it. Im getting back into scrolling after many years and I think I'm going to enjoy it but probably not be able to sell any of it. I dabble in woodburning but I'm not very good. So in one way I do commercial work and the rest is hobby.
  14. Do you find that they seem to "cut too quick" making corners a problem.
  15. I made a bunch of firewood yesterday with my new saw. Can't wait to get the new belt so I can slow it down. I also tried some Flying Dutchman blades, I'm impressed.
  16. I have a manual, it just doesn't go into that. I did find the answer online though. I need to order a different belt and change the pulley around. I cuts like mad but too fast for me, Ill order the belt next week. Meanwhile practice, practice, practice. Can't use a rheostat as it is a cap start motor and it would cook it.
  17. It's a RBI Hawk 220
  18. Well, I got my new saw today, and I have mixed feelings so far. It is in great shape. But the lower blade clamp is a PITA. It runs away from me as it's set on the high speed. I was told that if you turn the pulley around it runs at half speed but, I don't know how to go about it yet. I am thinking about a rheostat on the power cord to control the speed but don't know if it will hurt the motor. So, the jury is still out.
  19. Mudslide Slim. I have been a fan from the beginning. Gotta say I'm fond of his ex-wife as well.
  20. Thanks all, I guess I'll pass and wait until I can afford a DeWalt.
  21. I'm sorry, I was in a hurry when I posted this I was wondering if anyone had any experience with them and if they were anything worth 100.00. I still would like to get a better saw than what I'm using at present.
  22. About a : Penn State Industries 15" Scroll Saw, variable speed. Model SS-V15 Manufactured in 1991
  23. Just a couple. They are made to order and I have been bad about pictures. I have to take more, but these are a couple I use for Ad. purposes.
  24. No, I do them with knives and gouges.
  25. I carve outdoor signs and the best stuff I've found are spar varnish and clear poly. Spar varnish may have to be re-done in a few years with the poly no. But use good non-yellowing poly like Sherwin-Williams. Example below
