  1. The book I was looking at was Scrollsaw Relief by Marilyn Carmin. I think I would like to give it a try. Just don't want to spend money on a book I cant see very well LOL. I was interested in the deer head on the cover. In the right wood it would be very pretty I think. Thank You all for your responses.
  2. I have been trying to find information on this. I have found ads for pattern books but everything is too small for my aged eyes. From what I can tell it looks like a pattern is cut out and then pushed forward from the background and most likely glued that way. Does anyone have experience with this? I hate to order the book from looking at a thumbnail of the cover, because being on a fixed income doesn't give me a lot of wiggle room. It looks interesting but I have never seen a piece like that.
  3. Does anyone do anything to add depth to their projects. I was working on a walnut shelf with a grape/leaves theme. I thought Id carve out the leaf parts to add some dimension to the piece. Needless to say I now have to make that piece over again. I have some carving experience but this did not end well. Is there anything else I should try? Or just stick to veining? I just seems so flat to me.
  4. Beautiful work, and a great backing solution.

  9. It has been some time since I have been here as well as being at my saw. I got up in penmaking and drifted a bit. But as life goes I have a renewed interest in scrolling again. Anyway I just wanted to drop a note and say hello.

  12. I have not been on here in some time. Health concerns and other things have kept me away from my hobbies and when I get her I find out about Mike. Mike helped me out a lot when I was just starting and we had a few interesting telephone conversations. I loved doing business with Mike. I will miss him. He was a very knowledgeable man and a good and helpful man as well. God Bless you Mike, rest in piece my friend.
  13. This shows the integrity That Travis has. He acted properly and showed the respect due to the original artist. It's is a shame that the artist was that petty but, hey it was his. Kudos to Travis.
  14. Sounds like you dodged a bullet this time, whew! I have been retired 2 years now and eventually you'll be busier than you were when you were working. I think people figure you can do this or that because you have nothing else to do. Enjoy the animals-avoid the monkeys.
