  1. Does anyone have any experience scrolling in copper sheet? I have been asked if I could do it and I don't have a clue. Can it be scrolled? what blade would you use?
  2. Very nice work.
  3. I was there yesterday and got the headband one, didn't see the others in the store. this is good enough for now but will produce a headache after a while
  4. I dug around and found some 2/0 blades. I like the smooth edges they leave but, the little buggers are so hard to see with my old eyes that I couldn't cope even with the bifocals. So off I went in search of a magnifier, sheesh, the big craft store only have the hand held and the ones attached to the floorstand Ott Lights. Now I have an Ott light for my carving and it is great but you can't buy the magnifier separate. I was about to call it quits when I remembered Harbor Freight. Got a headband magnifier with multiple levels of mag for 5.00. Guess I'm back in business. At least for now LOL
  5. Maybe some day I'll remember mine. Nobody hollers it at me all day anymore.
  6. Very Nice hope they sell well. Will you be posting the patterns on your website?
  7. Great job Kevin! Id like to try the name thing sometime for my Granddaughters if I could find the right font.
  8. I stared a piece yesterday, found the blade I wanted to try. got all set up and started cutting. Didn't seem to cut like I thought it should and didn't quite look right either but I finished the outside. Then remembered my table was still tilted form an experiment I was trying. It should be okay but I wish Id remembered sooner.
  9. I have used the copier in the past when I had a finished piece and after looking determined that I had lost/misplaced the pattern. As far as I am concerned that is acceptable. To take a piece you never had the pattern for is not right, Patterns are not expensive to buy, in fact I'm going to order some from Iggy this morning. Let your conscience be your guide but try to do the right thing. People here are generous and will help you if you post a pic of what you are trying to do.
  10. This isn't exactly anything to brag about but it's mine. Patrick Spielman pattern. 3/4"walnut planed down a bit to smooth it out. Finished in neutral Danish oil.
  11. Brad, I cant help you with you materials question, but I wanted to say how sorry I am for your loss. Lifetime friends are a rare commodity these days and the add much to our lives. That kind of history between friends is a wonderful thing. I have a couple myself although we don't see each other often enough. It sounds like that "simple man' touched your life and made it better. After the pain subsides those memories will keep you warm, mine do. Again sorry for your loss. God Bless.....Craig
  12. I used to order from Mike, he was an interesting fellow. Looks like the wooden Teddy Bear for me then Thank You All !!
  13. Kevin, you always do such great work.
  14. Very nice. Ill try vinyl some day.
  15. Great Job !
  16. Yeah they most likely use a flat rate box. I'm just wanting to try these as they cut slower and I might be more accurate with them but don't wan to buy a gross until I give them a try. Going to order some from Sloans to give it a shake. D&D doesn't carry the crown tooth but they seem to be a good source. Living in the area I do there is nothing local except what they might have at HD and they have very few.
  17. Well, I cant find what I want so Ill bite the bullet.
  18. What is D & D ?
  19. I just went pricing blades. I wanted to try some crown tooth blades. If you go to the Olsen site they want 5.95 for the blades, Okay. But they want over 9.00 to ship 1 dozen. Lol I'm old but not senile. Going to check my old suppliers Geeze.
  20. Very nice lamp
  21. This was scooping out the leaves and allowing the vein area to stand proud. Don't know if any powercarver would leave it smooth enough and the leaves are small, never be able to sand in there but, heck, it was a good experiment
  22. Thanks Jack, does it have a table to explain the tilt of the table required? I don't know how to figure that.
  23. I was using a small detail "scoop" to dish out the leaves. This is in 3/8" walnut and to get the carving right I had to cut cross grain which is not bad, on a larger piece. This didn't work out so good but I have another piece of walnut so I can replace the bracket. Then I learned about relief scrolling which has taken me in another direction. Thank You for trying to help. I love this place.
  24. Thank you I will check those patterns out today.
