  1. Brian reread Ralph's post. He did not say he rec'd it. I am sure yours will be there today or Monday.
  2. I have one of your coins. Amazing work. I wish I was closer.
  3. My new issue arrived today. It is issue #67 which is Summer 2017. I am not seeing the puzzles you are referring to. Based on what was published on the other scrollsaw forum the magazines were not even mailed out when you posted this. You must be referring to something else. Late edit. I figured out the disconnect. What stevan was describing was SSWC issue #66 Spring 2017. When you subscribe you get issues 4 - 6 weeks or even more before they appear in the stores. Since I subscribe and have been a subscriber many years I rec'd the issue stevan referred to back on January 12th.
  4. Hans hang in there buddy. Lots of people beat this and I am praying you will be another one.
  5. Iggy if I did not have that exact machine in my shop I would jump on it. The bellows is $42.95 plus shipping.
  6. Go out to Google or Bing and search for cabinet shops in Wichita. You should find about a half dozen or so. Pay them a visit and they can tell you what is available in your area. They may also be willing to give or sell you some scraps.
  7. As a long time subscriber they are all like that. However, since my tastes might and probably is different then yours some issues "appear" better then others. I always find at least a couple things I end up making.
  8. Iggy I am far from being an expert but I have rebuild/repaired a DW788. I am probably about 3 hours from you. Glad to help.
  9. I was hoping for an intro price to come in between $750 and $800. Wishful thinking on my part. I am not currently in the market so it does not matter right now. I do own an EX-21. I have also owned and killed a couple Dewalts. IF the quality is anything like the older EX's I think the price might is fair. With scroll saws and many consumer products you get what you pay for. I have seen way to many times people attempt to scroll with junk tools, they were cheap in more then price and they soon quit.
  10. Great magazine and as someone already mentioned the only US and maybe the only English scrolling magazine. As with any magazine some issues are better than others but all and all I would not do without it.
  11. I have used BLO mixed with MS followed by a top coat many times. The 50/50 mixture takes 3-5 days to dry before applying the top coat. If applied to soon it prevents the top coat from drying properly. I have also used Danish Oil as my first coat followed by spray lacquer or polyurethane. The Danish Oil must dry at least one day first.
  12. Scott I used to live in Cary. Been to this event. This is more then a craft event though crafts are part of it. It is a family event with music and activities for kids and families. The bulk of your 15,000 attendees are not there to shop. SORRY to burst your bubble. With that said make sure you have a large inventory of kid puzzles. I think they will out do your other puzzles.
  13. I am like crupiea. Blades are meant to be used and then tossed. I think blade options and manufacturing have come a long way since the late 80's and early 90's. Most quality blades are ground and cut vs being stamped out so there is really no need.
  14. Congratulations on the new saw an welcome to scrolling. On major rookie mistake is not understanding that blades a a disposable commodity like sand paper and paper towels. The effective life of a blade is only between 5 and 30 minutes and that depends on the type and thickness of the materials you are cutting. This is why many experienced scrollers buy blades by the gross. Flying Dutchman, Olsen, and Pegasus and the brands to stick with.
  15. Yes the USPS can sometimes really make a mess of things. Last December I sent out 5 ornaments via 1st class mail. 4 or the 5 arrived in 2 business days (mail on a Thursday and arrived on Monday). The 5th one took 14 business days and two weekends. Per the USPS tracking system it crisscrossed the country twice. Twice it was within 30 miles of it's final destination. Sat in two different post offices for 5 days each. All the address info was correct. By some miracle it did arrive and in one piece.
  16. WOW I was not aware of that service. Thanks guys for passing that tidbit along. I will surely do that next time.
  17. To add to Charley's list is your blade dull and worn out. Scroll saw blades are meant to be a disposable commodity. Depending on what materials and thickness blades will last between 5 and 30 minutes. While they may continue to cut longer they are not cutting effectively and they are creating extra heat from the friction and you tend to push harder and then BANG.
  18. I read recent post here about concerns about WTB and their move to Idaho. Anyway last week my daughter requested a jeep pattern for her boy friend. A search of the web and this site found several but the one she really liked was sold by WTB. I went online and ordered the pattern mid afternoon of Thursday (Eastern Time) February 2. The pattern was in my mail box On Monday morning. One business day. Can't get much better than that. For the record I have no connection to WTB. Just a happy camper sharing good news.
  19. Yes. Those are the ones I wanted to try.
  20. After reading all the hype about Pegas blades I decided to try some. After seeing the issues with Lesley's patterns I ordered some from D and D. I ordered them today at 11:00 AM. Within 2 hours of ordering I had a confirmation with a USPS tracking number. It just checked and the number shows that it has in fact been accepted at the P.O. I should have them on Wednesday. D and D are a bit more expensive when buying by a dozen ($3.80 vs $3.10)at a time but they are cheaper when buying by the gross ($33.30 vs $35.40). http://www.dndsawbladesonline.com/ FOR THE RECORD I have no vested interest or connection with D & D. I found their ad in the lasts issue of SSWW&C
  21. I realize that we all are different and some of us are better off financially then others but I always laugh when I read about all the extra efforts folks put into coaxing a few extra minutes out of scroll saw blades. Rolf thanks for the illustration.
  22. BLO takes a day or longer (depends on the environment) to dry. I normally wait at least 3 days if I am going to apply a final finish like poly. BLO is really more a wood treatment then a final finish.
  23. Jim what you discribe is not unique to stack cutting but any projects that have small cut outs. If I have any areas that I need to cut out to remain for support I will use a small piece of scotch tape to hold it.
  24. All grass is not green. Had a friend take his Dewalt type 1 in for a problem. The motor had burned out after years of heavy use. Instead of putting on a new motor they gave him a new Type 2. Half the screws were loose, The table tilted forward 1/4". The new machine lasted just over 6 months and failed (bearing failure). It is now a boat anchor as it only came with a 6 month warranty. .
