  1. Any of the Titebond glues with work. The secret is to apply a thin even layer of glue to both sides. I use a trim roller covered with a piece of foam pipe insulation.
  2. No cutting for 6 hours or no cutting for three weeks. Sounds like a no brainer to me. I live 3 hours from you. I have overhauled a couple DW788 saws. Want to bring it up and do it together. If no parts are required we can do in in about an hour.
  3. Had what is typically my big craft fair yesterday and NAILED it. BIG is an understatement. Best show ever by far. I have done this show every year for about 8 years and every year it gets better and better. Thanks for all the well wishes and compliments in my other post. Now I have a good problem. I have to drag my butt back into the shop as I have one more craft fair in 2 weeks and my inventory on some items is depleted.
  4. When tape is required, not all projects call for taping, I apply the pattern directly to the wood using 3M Super 77 and then put clear packing tape on top of the pattern.
  5. It really depends on the project but I also like Watco Danish Oil (Natural which is clear). If I want a bit more shine I will spray with lacquer after the Danish Oil dries.
  6. Last year I got a copy of the Ornaments for Charity published by the great folks here at SSV. SHAMEFUL HINT: I hope they do it again. Anyway my wife wants me to cut a couple of the ornaments which have dates on them but of course she wants them to say 2016. Is there a simple way to change them. The document that has the patterns is a PDF file.
  7. Mike sold his business including the exclusive rights to distribute Flying Dutchman blades in the US and Canada to the WTB back about 18 months ago. Mike passed away earlier this year. RIP. So if you order from Mike's old website or the WTB website they are all packaged and shipped from the same location. I have ordered blades a couple times since the take over and I have had great service with each transaction.
  8. Klingspor will be holding their annual Extravaganza this weekend on October 28th and 29th. It will be at the Convention Center in Hickory, NC. Yours truly will be doing scroll saw demos on Friday the 28th. I will be doing Compound Cutting and also Puzzles from Christmas Cards. I will be in the NC Wood Worker booth. Stop by if you are in the area. Here is a link with more info: http://www.woodworkingshop.com/extravaganza/ For the record I have no financial connection to Klingspor or this event.
  9. MDF dust is bad that is why I seldom use it. If you are using a dust mask and your glasses fog it mean your mask is not fitting properly and moisture is escaping and more importantly dust is entering. I use a 1/2 half respirator made by 3M. It seals well and the filters are replaceable. https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon.com/images/I/51uWB1uxxcL.jpg
  10. Dan I love to hear about great service. Customer service is important to me and it should be for all of us. I know it is far to easy to ignore good service, we expect it, but we are often quick to complain when things go even a little wrong. As far as the blades go, just trying to save a friend a couple bucks.
  11. Frank you did an awesome job on all the pieces.
  12. John T. I think the Jet is more like Excalibur than the Dewalt. The big difference being the Excalibur is a top feed.
  13. Dan you need to continue to shop around at least for blades. I get a gross of Olsen #5PGT-R for only $45 ($48.95 with shipping) at Wooden Teddy Bear vs your supplier at $58 per gross. Yes I will pay a little extra for great service but to me that is a bit much.
  14. Yes I have one of Charley's light setups on my Dewalt and the difference is amazing. No it won't replace a mag light but proper lighting (from both directions) really makes a big difference in how well we see. I am waiting for Charley to make a bracket for my EX-21 (HINT).
  15. Yes painted a lite sliver - gray.
  16. I got mine back in January and I can tell you mine looking a 100 x worse. My feeling is it is just comestic. Wax the table once in a while and don't worry (fret) about how it looks.
  17. There are many ways to deal with those veining lines. There is no right or wrong. - Since it is for a 2 year old just omit them. Only you will know. - If you want to cut them on your scroll saw it will probably require some #68 or #70 drill bits and some 2/0 or 3/0 blades. - You can draw them with a permanent fine line Sharpie or India Ink marker. - You can burn them in with a wood burning tool.
  18. I paint my backers all the time and glue them on with Titebond II. I have made hundreds this way with NO fails. The big difference I see between your process and mine is I use flat black latex paint and not black lacquer. One coat of paint is all I need. I do allow my backers to dry over night before applying.
  19. Yes Rolf. Thanks for covering my back.
  20. Melanie is correct. There is not way I would sell my EX-21. This is one available near me.
  21. CWW&C (Creative Woodworks and Crafts) is totally gone. So are all the magazines by that publisher. SSWS (Scroll Saw Work Shop) which is published by Fox Publishing is alive and well.
  22. Here is another one on Craigslist: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/tls/5775180666.html
  23. Here is one for sale by me: http://raleigh.craigslist.org/tls/5775180666.html
  24. Glad you lucked out Scott.
  25. I also like the Watco Danish Oil which I get from Klingspor. I have tried various home brews. The best I have found was equal parts of BLO, MS, and pure Tung Oil (not the finish called Tung Oil). The only bad thing about home brews is they have a short self life.
