  1. Being one of those was my first adventure many years ago --(called coping saw then) -- I do knpw how much work that is and that it does take more skill than a scroll saw does; so I upgraded! Very nicely done and excellent work! No electricity or batteries required either!
  2. AMEN AMEN!
  3. I have used it a few times in the past; GREAT REMINDER!
  4. Hello and just join this asylum! The scroll work can also be enhanced by some wood burning! I sometimes do some wood-burning with a torch for a different effect. I also do sometimes do design with the various wood burner tips! Your PROJECT=YOUR WAY! Please the person in the mirror and do NOT care what the others think! It is a hobby for fun! Have fun and NO STRESS! ALLOWED!
  5. A.K. BEING A.K. AGAIN!----AGAIN!
  6. Nice work! The anti-gun nuts will still condemn it though! We need to follow Switzerland's gun laws!
  7. Old cowboy's trail! Great job! ---http://oldwesttrio.com/ Follow the link for music to go with that fine cutting! I have met and enjoy this group. Met them at Prospect OR last summer.Good people and good music!
  8. WELL DONE! Multi-tasking is always beneficial. A.K. your camera seems to have some focus issues though!
  9. Way too nice to be in the yard! Should be in a glass case PROUDLY displayed in your living room! FANTASTIC rendition!
  10. YUP! Neat idea and nice work too! If it is good coffe; not that NUTTY stuff; I might be guilty of a "muggin'--" too.
  11. On any "special order" I ask too many questions; but, I have never had a reject! I do not begin to sell as much as A.K. though. I do sell some and have had good luck on that part!
  12. They might be Olsen; The O blades I use are angle cut on both ends and seem semi-flexible in the thin sizes. I do seem to have good blade life. But, I ALWAYS use a wax and the clear tape trick on any except very short cuts! I have used various blades over the years; and as my local supplier sells Olsen, those are the ones I now use the most! I do not even consider "box store" blades-- why pay as much for 3 as you can get a dozen for!
  13. Jump in, we are a group of mis-fits all at our finest! We have a good time and do like to see other people's efforts! Even some of these fine folks do know what they are doing! I am still just learning! I claim to have the oldest (bought it new in 1953) working scrollsaw. It is not my primary saw; although it was for about 20 years.
  14. And the good thing is -- back at it! Real walls; not just blue tarp! Back to work! What is with the Africa pieces anyway! Hope they are sold.
  15. Very neatly done. I like the cut down for the Y on Raymond! I will be borrowing that idea.
  16. A..K. will soon be A.K.-'ing it again! Must have sold a continents!
  17. GREAT! Work! I like that you gave one to the local department! The volunteer ones are mostly unappreciated!
  18. Very well made trucks!
  19. Gorgeously finished in all aspects!
  20. Depending on what type of work you are going to do and how much of it + budget allowances can all affect your choice. The 18" versatility is better than the 16"'s I have had an old Craftsman for 60+ years, use it very little for the last 30, but still have it and it still works. But that is no reflection on newer ones. An extra stand is always usable for something around the shop too. Most are easy to modify for a different purpose also! Lowe's offers a 3 year extended warranty for a reasonable price too. The extended warranty even covers'"normal wear" items.
  21. A very symbiotic relationship there. Good going.
  22. Lucas is good grease; the videos on the DeWalt recommend a full synthetic though. Probably is supposed to stand up better! Any decent grease will beat none! You just may have to redo sooner. Be careful to not let sawdust or any other contaminant into the grease and you will have enough for several "lube -jobs"!
  23. My blade supplier is also an active sawer! here is a link to his web site! Good service , decent prices and a very good guy too! http://www.pozsgaidesigns.com/index.htm
  24. Not an "expert" but I have owned a scrollsaw for over 60 years! Yes, I do have my first one, and it does still work! Now is used very very little, but, I will keep it .The original book on that old Craftsman 11" said to use candle wax (beeswax) on the blades and the tin table for a lubricant! I have used the candle stubs on them ever since, white works best or the translucent ones. as that leaves a clear residue and does not stain the wood. In fact; even did it again today. I just lay the candle sideways and rub it around, seems to work well. A very fine sand paper 400+ and a random orbit sander can remove the scratches; if they bother you.
  25. I have never seen a busy shop stay super clean or super organized. I have worked metal fabrication and plastic fabrication both in commercial settings and the shops were decently clean. But far from super clean or super organized! Life was too busy for the mundane. Good going on the New shop! I have a lot of sawdust for you to just scatter around; if you need it!
