  1. On compound cuts I always use packing tape. Not to hold it together but to lube the blade. I always use a clamping jig to keep the pieces together. With packing tape on all four sides, I find the blade cuts cleaner and faster and helps prevent burning, and the blade lasts longer. It works for me.
  2. Congratulations Mimi! I think you will be fine if you just keep the table waxed.
  3. Well done Denny! I need to get that book. I do have all their other puzzle books.
  4. You getting ready for a big show Ron? As usual, great work!
  5. Great work Pete! Here in Southern California. The golf courses stay open all year around except when there is fire burning around it!
  6. I do use clear packing tape over the pattern. The trick is to apply the tape tightly without air bubbles. Do not wrap. I then use a small block of wood to burnish the tape to remove any air bubbles. With the tape tightly applied, you won’t get any sawdust under the tape. A far as glare, I use a lighted magnifying light and an additional light to the side of the saw table. With this setup, I don’t get any glare.
  7. Great looking John!

Thanks Dave. The Nativity puzzle is out of one of the Scroll Saw Mags. If you want, I can go looking through them to see what issue it is in. Let me know as that can be time consuming. It is one of those patterns I just keep copying as it is a good seller.
  13. Glad to hear you did well Edward!
  14. I had a banner show! Two day show at a local church. It was their 35th year! Thirty vendors, mostly hand crafted items. One of my good friend was there selling wooden toys. Lots of customers and buyers! I was surprised Saturday morning most buyers paid by cash. But by the end of the day it was 50/50 cash and credit cards. I broke my all time selling record for a two day show! I’m still deciding if I’m going to do any more show this year. After spending so much time in the hospital and three surgeries, I found I am still very weak and extremely out of shape. I am hurting today! I have pictures of my setup in the Bragging Rights forum.

Thanks Barb. I had the fish puzzle at $28. They are cut from Sapele. They did not sell, but don’t let that discourage you. I have so many products that I sell. What doesn’t sell this year will probably sell next year or next show. I’ve had items that I’ve carried to shows for years that wouldn’t sell, then all of a sudden they sell!
  16. Excellent work as usual Jim!

Thanks Gary. Yes, this is about the fifth or sixth year. I was in the hospital last year. My wife did the show for me and she did very well.

Thanks Ron. Yes, Square works great fo me. I use my iPad because it’s easier to see than on a phone. I have a separate hotspot to provide internet. The Square reader reads chip cards and magnetic strips as well as Apple Pay. My last show two weeks ago, 75% of sales were credit cards. The Square software provides a register on the iPad just like a real cash register. I ring in every sale including cash sales so it’s easy to keep track of all sales. You can access sales reports any time you want during day to see how you are doing. They deposit your money the next business day. It is a great tool!
