  1. Hey there, I have purchased the Logan Matt cutter several years ago. I am very happy with it. I don't use it every day, however, having a pet urn business I needed a tool that I could depend on for completing my Picture Frame Urn. The matt cutting tool works perfectly for me. All of the Logan tools are pretty good quality. As I stated I have used this tool over the past 5 years and it has not let me down. I didn't break the bank and is very dependable.
  2. Hello Marg, Hope all is well with you and your family. Looking forward to seeing what everyone has been up to. All is well in the Blue Ridge Mts of VA. Working on Christmas presents for this year gifts. Grandkids are keeping me busy. Talk to you soon. Jack
  3. Hey Bob, for a minute I thought I was reading my own post. I also have a Porter Cable. It is now making some amazing sounds, I can't even explain. I have fixed, poked, rebuilt, transformed, and prayed a lot. But now I really feel its time to upgrade. I used to refer to it as my Full Blown Porta Cable. I just have to hope it holds together until this seasons Christmas gifts are finished. Three more to go. Then NEW SAW TIME. Its been a long time coming. Keep us updated on what your choice is. I am leaning towards the 788. So much information on keeping up with that saw, and rebuilding etc. I like to tinker, so I feel that will be my next toy.
  4. Dan, so sorry for your troubles. Keep your strength, and faith up, and get well soon. We are all here praying for you.
  5. Thanks for sharing your update. I did the same thing 12 years ago when our daughter moved. Never regretted one moment of the move. The family is so important, love and spoil those grandkids, then send them home. Ha Ha. Send pictures of the shop when you can, and welcome to SSV
  6. Welcome Snowwolfe, Glad to see you are enjoying life in TN. Don't get so busy that you can't play with that new Saw. Give Paypal hell, and get that stand and start enjoying this great hobby. If you are like most of us there isn't enough time in the day to do what we want. Being retired is great. Enjoy each and every day, and start scrolling. Glad to have you part of this amazing group.
  7. Welcome Fran, Glad you found the best scrolling site on the net. SSV is a family friendly site. If you have a question just ask. Folks here are happy to assist you in any way they can.

  9. Hey Kevin, How are things down in Flordia? I am sure you are still super busy with your Name Plates. (Super Cool by the way). Hope all is well for you, looking forward to seeing your work once again. Jake
  10. I have on hand. Third, I spray the back of the pattern with adhesive and apply it to the masking tape. And Fourth I apply a layer of clear tape over the pattern. I have never had a problem with taking the pattern off or removing the tape. The blade cuts well. If I do start to get some burning issues (on Cherry) I also use a little BEESWAX on the blade. It works wonders. Again, this is the procedure that I follow. I know that it is a lot of prep work, but the results are worth it. IMHO
  11. I love to get those phone calls. It makes my day sometimes. I get them on the phone and tell them I am interested but to please hold on for a minute. then I put them on hold and play very horrible elevator music for them to listen to. I check back every few minutes to see if they are still on the line. You be surprised how many of them actually hang on. The older I get I find out It's the simpler things in life that I enjoy most.
  12. Hey there Bob. How are things on the other side of the Pond. Nice to talk to you again. Looking forward to participating in this great family. Have a great day.

    Excalibur EX-30

Hey guys, I have a question. I have a chance to buy a Ex 21 new floor model. The question I am facing is, they are not making anymore of these saws at the present time. To the owners of the Ex if you knew that they were going to stop making this saw would you still have purchased it? What about parts? I here that Ray at Sayco has a ton of parts, but, sooner or later they also will be hard to get... I really have mixed emotions at this time. I always wanted a Ex but now I am not sure if it is the right decision.... Any and all comments welcomed.
  18. Frank it might be a good time to start intarsia work. You can always use a small piece of something to go somewhere....
  19. Dave, I have been following your work for a while now. I really appreciate exceptional work, and craftsmanship. You hit both of these on everyone of your projects. Your cutting is outstanding, it just seems to go beyond the norm. Thanks for sharing, and your daughter is going to love it. Merry Christmas Jack
  20. I believed you Kevin.......... Was that a custom box you made for the puzzles? lol
  21. Hey there, went to the site to check it out. My eyes are still bleeding just looking at those patterns.....I can't even imagine trying to cut one. The old saying one hole at a time doesn't seem to cover it...... Outstanding is a understatement. Thanks for sharing.....Did he say he did that one building with a hand saw? My hat is off to him..
  22. Way to go Larry!!!!! When does your tour start, and how much are the tee shirts??
  23. And people wonder why I am always making mash..... Its all good my friends...Really love this site.
  24. Hey Larry, The easiest way to find out is to take it in for repair. I can almost guarantee you whatever the problem is it won;t be covered.... . Like Scrolling Steve said, Limited is a scary word. Got to get back to the new batch of mash now..... Now thats a scary thing. Jack
  25. The hardest thing about upgrading to a EX-21 is finding one..... I agree with dgman, there very might be a simple explanation for the shut down. My two cents worth I would go thru everything one more time, and double check. It could be very simple fix. Jack
