  1. My two cents worth,,, spirals are for people who don't know how to use flat blades...... If you want a wide cut, lots of fuzzys, nothing that is truly detailed, than spirals are for you.... Hope I didn't offend anyone, but sometimes the truth hurts.....
  2. Thank You Dick for the nice comments. I am glad you like the plaques. Like I stated earlier, I am only doing these for my fellow villagers, and to help out with some donations to SSV. Just a little something special for that special piece. Personally I am not so sure I would like gluing a piece of printed paper on a special piece that I worked so hard on, to finish it off. To each their own.... Hope everyone has a blessed day.
  3. Absolutely! This is a very nice and classier look for this piece. Well done my friend.
  4. A true craftsman as always. Very nicely done my friend. The Pastor will be very pleased I am sure. The extra thought, and the selection of materials was a great choice. The final piece is top shelf.
  5. Hey Danny I have cut all the bird houses, and butterfly houses from her patterns. They were really well received. However I used a 2/0 reverse blade. I know this is even smaller than the #1 but let me tell you, doing that fine cutting, there is nothing else like it. Some projects you just don't need to rush on. And the finish cut the 2/0 gives you is just wonderful... Give it a try Jack
  6. Hey there I have been using a aquarium pump for years. I have a porta-cable saw and the bellows kept splitting. So I decided to give one a try. Worked like a charm. I chose the middle of the road air pump. It wasn't the largest, nor was it the smallest. It cost around $ 16.00. Installed it and never looked back.
  7. If you don't want to use painters tape you could use clear contact paper. Buy a large roll at Wal Mart, Peels off real easy, and doesn't leave any residue..... Nothing new , just another way...
  8. Very well put Dick, as always you explained it completely. Thanks for sharing. I also tried something new to me, maybe not new for other villagers. I have always been a blue tape guy, spray adhesive on pattern. and then clear tape over pattern. I recently tried buying clear contact paper from wal-mart. Cut a piece put it on the wood, then applied the pattern on to the contact paper . It works like a charm.... Don't even have to use clear packaging tape. Something in the contact paper seems to lubricate the blade. When finished cutting, it removes very easily, and doesn't leave any residue. It saves me a ton of time, very happy with the results. Happy Fathers Day to all.....
  9. Hey there Dick That is going to be hit for sure. Your craftsmanship as always is top shelf. This will soon become one of the family's top heirlooms. Great work my friend. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Hey Ducky, Glade to hear you are back and on the menz.......Make sure you give your wife a extra hug for taking such good care of you. Take it slow,, and above all think twice cut once......
  11. Ducky as all my fellow villagers before me stated, So sorry to here about the accident.. Don't be too hard on yourself... It was a accident. You definitely didn't plan it. It just happeneds. That;s why its called accident. Heal fast, my friend and be thankful, it could have been worse... better days ahead.
  12. Has anyone contacted Wooden Teddy Bear and told them about this issue?
  13. Outstanding! That is what intarsia is all about....A true craftsman. Thanks for sharing.
  14. Funny you should mention this. My last order from Teddy Bear the blades just didn;t seem the same. I thought it was me. They didn;t seem to cut like I have been used to. Do you think that they are the same Flying Dutchman blades we have been getting all these years. or have they changed and are knock offs. Interesting.... Mike retires, new company takes over. Blade problems start..... I for one will definitely keep a closer eye on this situation. Gator I am glad you brought this up. I thought it was just me..
  15. Welcome back Doc. Looking forward to meeting you
  16. Once again Dick you knocked it out of the park. Outstanding.....YA DONE GOOD BOY

  22. Hey Dick what wonderful news. Can't wait to get my copy of ScrollSaw woodworking magazine. It is truly a pleasant surprise to hear and see that our fellow villagers are getting recognized for their craft. I personally don't know Mike Mathieu, or Homer and Carol Bishop, But I am sure their work is top shelf. You however I do know your work, and I am so proud that you are in that issue for your work. I know for a fact what a craftsman you are, and so glad that you are getting recognized for your efforts. and very proud to call you my friend. Thanks for sharing this wonderful news.
