  1. Hey Larry, Thanks for the comment. I see that FD now advertises the "new Spiral" I am not sure if those are the ones I got. I will pay better attention when I re order. As I stated I have never used these blades before, so I will have to put some time in.
  2. Hey DW They are the perfect size for scrolled desk name plates.....(I make a ton of these) I make mine out of oak with a walnut base. But pine would work perfectly.
  3. Well I finally decided to try the spiral blades out. I had ordered 3 doz from FD a while back. #1 #2 #3. They have been sitting on my saw table for a couple of months. Yesterday was the day... I was out in the shop and decided to give them a whirl.... It is definitely learning curve... But after a little while I started to get the hang of it. I have a project that I am working on which has quite a few really zig zag vein cuts in it.. I was quite surprised how the blade worked so well. It kind of feels like I cheated if you know what I mean. I feel like they definitely have a place in some pieces, however I am still not convenienced that I would use them all the time. (my personal opinion) Some people swear by them, and some people swear at them... I just swear.... Any how, for all you more experienced spiral blade users, a few questions.. Is there a right or wrong way to install the blade? top or bottom? and I am assuming (bad thing to do) that the number 1 is the heaviest of the blades and 3 is the smallest? or visa versa? Well thats my two cents worth, I am interested in what you all have to say.... Thanks and have a great day..
  4. Laser printers are the way to go. Very cheap to maintain. If you have a ink jet printer I would suggest to go to " Ink Owl" on the net. They offer great deals for re-filling all types of cartridges. I have both types of printers and use the re-fill kits for my cartridges. Very cost effective.
  5. Hey Tommy Welcome to our little world. This village is a wealth of information and wonderful people, who are all willing to give their advise and share their experiences. Looking forward to seeing some of your work. Have a great day.
  6. Gator I'am still catching my breath..... There are only a few scroller's that I personally consider masters. You my friend are one of them. Your craftsmanship is top shelf. I love people that take on a challenge then master it. It is truly a piece to be admired for years to come. As I stated before I am not easily impressed, but today you knocked me out. "YA DONE GOOD BOY" Thank you for sharing.
  7. Don't you know through all your years of wisdom that scales lie..... Throw that one away and get a second opinion.... Or better yet just throw it away...and keep on scrolling.
  8. Love to see projects like this. A little thought and there you go. Outstanding blade holder. You probably smile every time you need to change a blade. 'YA DONE GOOD BOY" Thanks for sharing.

  11. Yes guys its true.....Mike is retiring . Steve Goode ran a piece on it in his news letter... Mike said its time, and wants to sit back and enjoy a little. They didn't go into detail as to when it will be completely turned over.
  12. Han's Good luck on your trip. I know the feeling with the grandchildren. My wife and I moved to our present house 9 years ago just to be close the kids. I haven;t regretted one second. When it comes down to it family is the only true thing you can count on.. Be happy my friend, and let us know when you get settled in.
  13. Once again Roly nicely done.

  15. Hey Cory Welcome to our world...... Pyrography is very rewarding. It will go hand and hand with scroll saw work. The embellishment with pyro can achieve wonderful results. I am glad you decided to join the village, and looking forward to seeing some of your work.

  20. Hey Ray for me I find when the blade will starts to wander, or I find myself pushing a little harder, or the blade is not holding the line like it first did. That's when I change the blade.. As you will find out blades are cheep.... Change often and you will have a enjoyable session on the saw....That's what is all about..

Good job on the wheels. I vote for a slim line sander..... More of a challenge ... Come on you know you want to... Thanks for sharing, and let us know what you come up with....
