  1. This is for my grandkids. It's 8x10.5 - 79 pieces. They'll have fun with it.
  2. That is really nice! They certainly made my Noles look bad!
  3. I cut all of my puzzles freehand. I use 3M 77 spray adhesive on poplar 5 ply or baltic birch. I spray the back of the picture and the wood and then spray the picture with Watco Satin Lacquer after the glue has set. It cuts the glare and I never use more wood to attach any pattern. If I cut a figural I just tape it to the picture, cut it and remove the little bit of tape from the picture. I use Flying Dutchman Superior Puzzle blades (FD-SP) as they are the thinnest I can find other than jewelers blades. Cutting freehand has its challenges but it's fun.
  4. I received a pm from hotshot over at SSWC forum tonight. He's working on picture upload problems and was looking for someone having trouble uploading pics from their computer to the forum. I'm not having any problems with it so he has moved on. You might want to visit the forum and pm hotshot. One more little kink to work out.
  5. Depends on the condition of the Excalibur. It might be a great deal or a disaster. How much use has it had? As far as selling your 788, I also have a type 1 and it will cost someone more than $200 to get it from me even if it's in the corner watching me use a new Excalibur.
  6. Nothing beats early morning peace and quiet with fresh coffee. No, it wasn't me. I wish. 4x6 and only 47 pieces. A good memory for my daughter of her fam's vacation. More to come.
  7. Whoops!
  8. sorry
  9. Look under the reply box after uploading and you should see a selection for size of thumbnail. Small, Medium, Large, Full size. Did you click on the avatar size picture after posting? It might open to original size. Mine has worked that way. I generally choose large or medium thumbnail to avoid having to click to enlarge.
  10. Welcome Kevin! I live in Florida, land of sunshine and excessive humidity.
  11. Hi James and welcome! Very interested to see some of your metal scrolling and learn from you also.
  12. Hi Phil and welcome! Cycling and scrolling here also.
  13. Welcome and congrats on the good news! Keep scrolling and here's a scrolling suggestion if you happen to need an idea:
  14. http://www.woodworkingshop.com/product/fs36240/#.VdtbPiVVhBc http://www.seyco.com/category/accessories.html Refills available in various grits: https://www.woodworkingshop.com/search.aspx?q=sanding+mop Not sure about least expensive but they're available at Seyco and Klingspor for certain. A great little item to have.
  15. I've been able to upload photos. There is a tutorial on the site that explains the new procedure. Frankly I think it is easier. Photos are uploaded directly from my computer and are displayed in the post, not just with another link to click.
  16. Removing the guard? Amen! Two thumbs up! As for the short learning curve on the bottom clamp - Well, when I first got my saw I decided I was going to learn to use the bottom clamp and learn to do it quickly by feel. I was doing more fretwork then. It took a couple of sessions but before long I was one handing the release/attach/ tighten and proceed to cut without even thinking about it. Just decide you want to do it and practice. Once it becomes second nature you'll wonder why you thought it was difficult.
  17. By any chance is it the Jim Dandy?
  18. I never look at the setting. If the tension handle goes more than halfway easily I return it, release the top clamp and reset it higher in the clamp. I check with the "ping" sound rather than any numerical setting. It's my saw and my wife knows better than to tell me how to set the tension. That's one of very few things I control. But I do it with gusto!
  19. Hope you have a successful rehab. My cycling buddy recently had a knee replacement. He's back to work and doing well.
  20. Nice little saw. Hope it works well for you. I have a Porter Cable cordless that does a pretty good job and a Bosch corded jigsaw that is good. I use them both with a super long straight edge. Kind of a pain sometimes but if you don't have space you do what you gotta do. Also have a old Ryobi BT3000 that isn't used just because of space and it is buried with stuff all over it. For what I need to cut I'm considering getting rid of the table saw.
  21. I use a foot switch but sometimes turn off the machine rocker switch. It failed after a lot of years but I cleaned it and it has worked fine ever since. At first I just rocked it back and forth and it worked but after a couple of times decided to clean it. Works as it should ever since. Sturdy machine IMHO.
  22. You're not doing anything wrong. It has become almost the new national pastime to be offended. Too many drama queens running around looking for some reason to join the offended ones in the pc crowd. Besides, religious freedom is what this country was founded upon, not just if yours is like mine. Respect is everything. You do not have to agree to show respect. Sorry. Kinda on the soapbox about this but you did say you wanted our honest opinion.
  23. Things are getting better. Although different, I find the posting of pics on the SSWC forum is very easy. I just upload from my computer and select a thumbnail size. Granted it is different but just a change and when familiar, it becomes the old new way of doing things and people will not want to change. Creating the forum is a ton of work and takes time. To post a pic, click on the paper clip in the upper right corner of the reply box you are typing in. Look closely, it's small. When the box pops up, select Upload or URL if using a hosting site. I just upload already resized pics from my computer. If upload, select the pic, click on open and VOILA! Eezy Peezy. Select thumbnail size and you're done. Do a preview to see if it's what you want and post or redo. There is a post on that forum by Shawn that is much better than my explanation If I can do it, no one should have a problem with it.
  24. Larry, here is another really good quality scroll saw that most people do not know about . Anyone here have an Eclipse? Are they still being made?
