  1. Well I finally found some free plans on the DIY website and decided to try and make this for my son's new deck. I was a little Leary trying to make this but I said what the heck, If I don't try I'll never know If I could've made it. I still have to put the Yankee bottle cap opener on the front which hasn't come in yet plus a Yankee sign for the front. They should be in Monday i hope. This is made out of cedar. It took 7 - 2x4's and 10 cedar fence pickets. I added a shelf to the bottom of mine. I used a pocket hole jig which really made it strong and you don't see any screws.I gave it 3 coats of spar urethane. Hope you like it. Comments welcome. I'll put another picture when I get the sign and opener on it.
  2. Hi everyone, Did anyone get the new SSWC catalog . There a ton of great patterns in this one. Theirs 52 of them. I might have to make a few of them.
  3. Bob, I'm also a retired firefighter and I'm 74 now. I like the last one that's cutout. They all came out good.

  17. Bill, the more I look at that I'm thinking that might be a nice painting project for my kindergarten class. I have 24 kids and if I stack cut 5 or 6 I'll be done in no time. Is there a pattern on here somewhere for that..
  18. Your right Paul, I usually put some poly over it but she liked it the way it was and I don't have to dust it. LOL.
  19. Thanks everyone. I gave them to her tonight and she loved them just the way there were. Just Danish oil.
  20. That came out very nice Bill. Just needs a nice coat of Easter egg color which will really bring it all together.
  21. Just finished these two pieces a little while ago. Had some 1/2 inch pieces hanging around. One is walnut and the other is maple with 1/2 B/B backer. Got this pattern from Sue Mey. A friend of mine has a couple of horses so I thought I would surprise her with these. There about 7 1/2 x 7 1/2. I used a #3 Pegus blade on this with no problem cutting. I have a coat of Watco Danish Oil on them. Not sure if I should give them a couple of coats of Poly or leave them like they are. Hope she likes them.
  22. Denny, that came out beautiful. My niece just got married. Would love to make something like that. Hopefully someone will find the pattern for it.
