  1. I'm in Arizona and we get Anna's hummingbirds year round. They nest in the neighbors tree and visit my courtyard all day.
  2. Love the frames. I have to learn to do framing myself.
  3. I'm sure I could've found a way to poke my brothers eye out with a bean bag when I was a kid.
  4. Take care of yourself. My uncle had arthritis in the hands to the point he could barely hold his beer.
  5. I need to get better at finishing so my stuff looks that good.
  6. I'm wondering what it would look like without the paint on the phoenix. Just the background paint. I think it takes away from the scroll work, but that's just me.
  7. Mom is in San Antonio. Her pipes froze even with the trickling water. The pipes aren't buried under the frost line or I should say a frost line that northern states would understand.
  8. I got the midshipmen with sea bats. You make up something to get them to look at the deck (usually phosphorescing plants in the water.) and then use the bat on their backside. One big guy from Nebraska got mad at us. He couldn't see the sea bats.
  9. I just live in Phoenix. It's much easier. Although today I had to put on a light jacket. Hope that cold snap goes away soon.
  10. Same as everyone else. Dead man switch from Harbor Freight. I like being able to lift the foot to kill the power when the saw scares the crap out of me by breaking a blade.
  11. I just used some the other day. They don't work as well as a regular blade, but I had no problem getting my dewalt to clamp them down. I believe I was using a 2/0, but I could have been under the influence. I was using a spiral blade afterall.
  12. Thanks for all the advice. I'm using the normal 1/4" BB from Home Depot. Looks like standard 5 ply to me. I'll have to try the zero clearance card and maybe just change out my blades more often. I'm bad at using a dull blade.
  13. I've been getting some tear out cutting portraits in 1/4" baltic ply so I thought I would ask the experts on advice. What blades are your favorites? Do you use any kind of top or backer board? I've been using FD #1 reverse on my Dewalt. Any tips or tricks are greatly appreciated. Cutting most of a portrait just to have a piece break off is killing me.
  14. Prayers out to Steve. I appreciate all the work he does for us.
  15. I've got the cheap 3 legged stool I built from scrap 2x6 and plywood and just throw a pillow on top even though my butt has enough padding.
  16. Give me all the eggs and bacon you have.
  17. Now idea if you've done it yet or not, but here are a few: Pets Movies Songs Family Buildings Skylines Favorite city National parks Your other hobby
  18. Looks good to me. I tried spirals a week ago and just couldn't get it. kept going way to far outside the lines and even following a smooth curve was hard. Maybe if I practiced, but that would take work. Something I'm just not known for.
  19. Yet another project to put on the list of things I want to do.
  20. A fun cut for me is the one I just discovered and want to do, but don't have the wood or I have a backlog of other projects that have to get done first.
  21. Hello from Phoenix. I've been doing it a while, but I'm still new compared to everyone else here.
  22. I haven't gotten to the point of switching blades. Either the projects I'm doing aren't complicated enough, or I'm just not at the level of craftsmanship to hit those fine details.
  23. I look for weak spots first. If it break at least it broke early instead of after doing a bunch of cuts. If it doesn't have a weak spot I'll go from the center out.
  24. Built my own stand. It's lower than most so I can sit comfortably and it's tilted forward. Ugly as sin, but it works.
