  1. Well done Dick, I would brag about it, excellent job.
  2. It is Hard Maple from Ocooch, all my wood are from them, great service and all the cuts are perfect as far as thickness and width also quality of the wood itself.
  3. Canadian are having a postal dispute right now, rotating strike, slow work so that will be a factor. I found that Bear woods is also very slow in Canada and communication is not the best. I ordered my blades from Mikes, D&D and Sawbird (Canadian) all 3 provide excellent service.
  4. Just finish cutting this pattern from Sue Mey, will get a torch and burn the edge before I put some sealer on it
  5. Merry Christmas to you Travis and your family, lot’s of Christmas cheers and happy time. Thanks for your hard work, it is really appreciated.
  6. I made over 15 bowls with the scroll saw, I used all kind of woods, cherry, walnut, oak, maple and even Purple Heart. As far as sanders I used all kinds, round pneumatic to shape the inside also belt sander for outside and small discs sanders. You should get a book from Carole Rothman she is the expert on bowls making on a scroll saw.

Will do, best wishes to you and yours for a safe and healthy holiday!

  8. Yes it is and it should also say repositionnable.
  9. Another thing to do is use clear packing tape on top of your pattern when you used the glue stick, it lubricate your blades and keep the pattern from lifting.
  10. You can get glue stick that are repositionable made by Elmer’s and available at Michaels and other stores. You can apply it directly to the wood and it comes off easy, not for intricate work as it comes off quite easy. I used it all the time for 3D cuttings I.e mini bird houses.
  11. Hi Jes

We just arrived in Panama  it’s Beach yesterday and saw all the damages in Panama City during our travel, it is real bad to see. Still lot’s of clean up to do, but they must be working hard, cannot be done over night. How are you guys doing lot’s to do or are you back to some kind of normal. If you want to meet for coffee let’s set up a date and time and maybe this time you can drive to the Beach for different scenery. We wish you all the best.

    Pete.

      Hi Pete,

Coffee sounds great and sure, going to the beach is fine with us.

We just got back from our vacation to Jamaica, we've settled in as best we can with what we've had to deal with.

It's almost impossible to get a contractor/builder around here to get estimates for repairing and rebuilding

Yes, it's going to take a very long time to recover

Let me know your schedule for coffee

      Jessie

  12. You are right, apply Tung oil let it dry over nite, you can use a second coat if you want and when it is dried to touch I used the spray can of Shellac one or two coats fora real nice finish
  13. Tung oil and shellac works great together, I used it on all my bowls.
  14. Pattern from Paul (Grampa) is done and framed, ready to be given to the owner of the dog.
  15. And I was complaining with a pattern that I cut that had 142 entries holes. This is beautiful work of art.
  16. I would use Titebond instant bond it is clear and you have about 5 to 7 seconds to adjust the pieces, I had very good result with it. You can never go wrong with Titebond glue, my other go to is Titebond III. Good luck
  17. I bought one at Lee Valley and so far I really like it.
  18. Will not be able to meet this year, the accommodation that we had in Phoenix felt through so back to Panama City Beach this winter. Hope you have a great holiday with your family and friends maybe next year.

So sorry to hear that. I was so looking forward to meeting you. I hope it will work out better for you next year, for sure. This is a big disappointment for me.

  19. If you go to resources at the top of the page and look for wood suppliers, you will find many that are recommended from the members. Myself I got all my wood from Ocooch the quality of their products is the best so is their service.
  20. D&D sell them by the dozen also, if you look on their website on the right end side of the page you will see the price per dozen. Will try to post a picture. The shipping charges from these companies are real high but maybe not in the US. Bear woods delivery and shipping charges are real bad here in Canada.
  21. I would recommend Mikes for FD and D&D for Pegas
  22. Beautiful work, you have lot’s of patience and skill, well done.
  23. Just finished this cardinal from Sheila Landry collection, will be giving to a very good friend of mine which is in assist living residence because of Parkinson sickness.
  24. Kevin I hope you will get look after soon, just walk to the hospital they cannot throw you out
  25. Have been busy in the shop this past 2 weeks and as per the attached picture, lot’s of sawdust has been collected by the unit. The filter was cleaned 2 weeks ago with my shopvac.
