  1. Sorry, but it looks like i missed the U.K. chat tonight, what with all that's been going on here I lost track of the day, plus I have been catching up on sleep when I can as after my op I'm not sleeping too good yet.. But I'll make sure I'm here for the next one... Keefie.
  2. beautiful work DW, love the nice finish on it. I like working with bloodwood, but we can rarely get it in the U.K. and it's really expensive when we can get some. Keefie.
  3. great projects there Mahendra, considering the list of tools you didn't have, I think you have made an excellent job of it. well done. Keefie.
  4. Mahendra, for a first attempt at routing freehand that's brilliant. It's like your pattern making, it will improve with practise, your patterns are now excellent so I'm looking forward to seeing more signs soon. Keefie.
  5. No problem Paul, without your pattern it would never have happened. Thanks again. Keith.
  6. After my By Royal Appointment post, I thought I would post the pictures of The Duchess of Cornwall being presented the bowl by the crew of the Cornwall Air Ambulance. (I made the centre inlay and another turner made the bowl) Thanks go again to Paul (Grampa) for the brilliant pattern. Keefie
  7. I grabbed a copy too thanks, going to make one of those for my shop Keefie.
  8. I sort of started in 2000, I had been laid off work because of my leg and was getting bored silly. I had a few basic tools in my garage and I tried making wooden planter boxes. Thet turned out reasonable but by no means could I call them good (or even fair if i'm honest lol) I was looking through the hobbies catalogue for inspiration to try something else and saw their miniature grandfather clock. I ordered the pattern and the plywood needed also the clock itself, then I ordered a Clarkes Scrollsaw (it was on special offer at £49.99) I knew nothing at all about scroll saws and when it arrived it was a single speed saw that only took pin end blades (there was an adaptor in the box but nothing to say what it was lol. ) I copied the plans at the local library so I could keep the originals. I managed to cut half of it using the pinned blades before I realised what the adaptors were for, then finished it with some cheap pinless blades - which took ages to change holes for the next cut lol.that experience put me off scrolling for a long time. Here is a picture of the clock when finished (sorry bout the quality of pic) I didn't touch it again for a long time and I took up woodturning instead. My leg has gotten slightly worse and I couldn't stand at the lathe as long, so I dusted off the scrollsaw to try it again. I stayed with the simpler patterns as the blade changing was a "royal pain in the butt" I then joined Steve Goods scrollsaw forum and saw so many amazing things that could be made with a scrollsaw. Just before Christmas, the year after mum passed, I wanted to try to make a plaque of Mum for Dads Christmas present. I posted my request for a simple pattern (as I had never attempted anything like this before) on the pattern request section in the forum, and had lots of replies with patterns. I chose the pattern made by Grampa (Paul) as he had made it as I requested - fairly simple to cut. (Thank you again Paul for all your help, you're a Star) after that I was hooked. here is a picture of mum's portrait. About 2 years ago I had a win on the lottery, not massive, but a nice £1508.00 which cleared off a few bills and left me enough to upgrade to my Excalibur saw - that was the best purchase I've made in a long time. Thats how I got started. I would like to add a little something here, Sully, I'm really pleased that someone was looking down on you from above with his blessings, and hope he continues to care for you. Keefie.

  11. Another great sign, he's going to love it. Keefie.
  12. Excellent work Roly, love those letters too (I might have to get you to email me the pictures of them lol) the sign looks great with the dark backer and light letters. Keefie.
  13. Marg, very nice cutting and a great tribute too. Keefie.
  14. Marg, at the last sale here in April, I sold £260.00 over a 2 day show, and the club took nearly £1400.00 in total wirh 10 members displaying their work.
  15. The Windmill was made from 3mm birch ply and cut with a #1 FD UR blade (and I was lucky - no breagages.) Thanks everyone for the nice comments. There are 9 of us woodturners displaying there, but only one of us is a scroller too, so I had to make nice things to uphold the name of us scrollers. (hope I did ok.) Keefie.
  16. I did the first day of a three day craft fair today with my woodturning club. Sales were pretty poor as there wern't many people coming in, I think they all went to the beach to cool off, Here is a couple of pictures of the display and a picture of part of my display. Keefie.
  17. Roly, I have got a 16' shed, and I have a crate of beer cooling for your visit - oops it was hot today so I drunk it for you!!!!

  19. great cutting there, reminded me of my younger days, I haven't seen The Dukes of Hazzard for years. Keefie.
  20. I have to agree totally amazing Kevin. Keefie.
  21. Nick they're fantastic. Like DW and Roly , I love the way you incorporated the hands into the frame, that was a brilliant idea. Also I can see why you were holding your breath, the panel on the front of the ladies dress is only held on with a gnats Whisker (I'll be polite with that saying lol) Well done on both. Keefie.
  22. Thanks Travis, sorry for being a pain in the butt . As it's now working , did you want to remove dads account as I only set it up to get into chat last night. Keefie.
  23. Thats great, look at the concentration on their faces . Keefie.

  25. Of course he played with the gun, he went hunting Kevin's birds Seriously though very nice cutting there. Keefie.
