  1. Love my woodmaster drum. Ordered as a kit. HF motor. Russ
  2. We have a couple of importers locally. I go gather their old busted up pallets. Scored some great European oak that way. Russ
  3. I really don't see the problem, folks. I mean after all it does say "PREMIUM"! I think I would take up rock polishing before putting out that kinda cash! Russ
  4. Glasses - old eyes, so always Hearing protection - for most machines Dust Mask - sanding, bandsaw Gloves - NoCut armor gloves when cutting smaller parts on very large table saw, and when using bench router
  5. I also use those stiff bristle brushes (think bottle brush). The smaller ones work good for getting in the nooks and grannies. 6. Full wood shop here, but I have three sets of general tools. A set at each end of the shop and another on a roll around utility cart. What I really use the most is clamps! Can never have to many clamps! For scrolling I have a small blade holder and an OTT light on a stand with the magnifier (old eyes). Russ
  7. Nice shop. I also put my outlets in high. Too old to bend over! Should be a great place to work, congrats! Russ
  8. In this 'semi' computer literate society, just cut a wiggly line under Auston and tell them the wood's spell checker caught it! Russ
  9. 1. General 2. Coffee 3 Jerry! Russ
  10. One of my weakest skill sets is in the arena of finishing. So regardless of the original topic if I see some finishing technique that is interesting I will jump in and ask questions regarding that technique. Hijack maybe, but within the scope of the original post, I think so. There are some very talented folks here and their eagerness to share is why I hang out here. I have a wood shop and the scroll saw is just one of my tools but wood knowledge is wood knowledge. Thanks to all for sharing. Russ
  11. But, but, but I like talking about trains! Russ
  12. I bought the Woodmaster as one of their kits. Went together very easy using their excellent instructions. The motor is from HF. Box is 3/4 cabinet with a piano type hinge. Everything is adjustable. It does an amazing job. Russ
  13. I also use adapters for the 'screws' on my Hawk. Russ
  14. I am not an expert on this but the way I read it is: you are reselling the ORIGINAL art that includes THEIR copyright statements printed on their artwork. Reselling a COPY of an original is not allowed. Same logic applies to whole magazines, the copyright is still intact. If you have stripped the mag and are reselling a pattern out of a mag I think that is not allowed. I believe it all has to do with can you tell who was the author and what were their rules of use. My 2 cents, spend wisely! Russ
  15. How about some Christmas ornaments! The first cut will still be an ornament, the last cut will just be a little better ornament! Russ
  16. I have several of my machines on HF caster frames. However any machine where I need to apply LATERAL pressure I do not have casters. Even the frames with brakes will slide if pushed to hard and that with a power tool is just to dangerous. Russ https://www.harborfreight.com/300-lb-capacity-mobile-base-95288.html
  17. I don't know why we call this section 'Bragging Rights'. Seems to me bragging implies telling' someone how good your piece is, but here it looks like the pictures show how good you all are. I love checking in here to try and get inspired. All I need now is some of your scrolling skills! Another great piece. Russ
  18. That is one great art piece. Well done. Russ
  19. I have used my scroll saw for some modeling projects but not many. The best I have done scrolling is some simple puzzles and a few toys. I love my shop and all of wood tools and I seem to always ending up using a lot of them on every project. Russ A big project or two And a much, much smaller model
  20. This is a work in progress that I'm doing in my shop. Thought you might be interested even if it's not scrolled. One of our model buildings at the train park actually fell apart. So here is the replacement structure underway. Notice the gallon of paint lower right for size reference. Can you guess what the structure is? OK, good guess! Drawn in Aspire, 1/2 inch ply, 1/8 ball nose for scribing, 1/4 end mill for openings and cutouts, 1/16 tapered ball nose for details from sintra. Lot's more to do but a decent start so far. Enjoy., Russ
  21. As a model maker and of course a toy maker, I am in season as they say! Russ
  22. I have the dust issue under some control it's me that I have issues with! The dust goes in to two 35 gallon drums but the rest of the 'stuff' is still all over the place! I think what I need is a lesson in keeping my shop as nice as yours! Very nice and looks very functional Russ
  23. "you can call me Iggy Kardashian." We can't do that, you've got skills! Russ
