  1. I have to agree, a really nifty idea. I wonder how big it is though, those hearts look pretty small to be writing on, though I see those folks managed. Seems like cutting a dado in the sides for the glass or plexiglass to sit in would work.
  2. well, yeah
  3. change bits for a different edge cut the letters as fretwork, then set the presently cut letters in the hole, get a new board, .... ROFL
  4. I ignore them, but if you hover the mouse over them there is a fly out that tells you what it is for, and they are in your profile too - has a lot to do with participation the new society seems very preoccupied with participation awards - oh wait you are a youngster - ahh scratch that
  5. ROFL, too true
  6. Put the letters on the other side, fill the gap with saw dust/glue mixture
  7. ahh, when you do this , if you do it, put the blade edge down don't ask ROFL
  8. I like that, very nice work, and showing it on a frame like that is great, nice idea
  9. I'm curious too, I just mounted an old hack saw blade on the front edge of the shop table. Slide the paper between it and the table, tear.
  10. Stunning Dave, really stunning work
  11. respirator and something like that WEN air filter hanging in the air is almost a necessity with WRC. Sanding is worse than cutting, but it is a pretty wood.

    Great cutting
  13. Outstanding sentiment and a great sign, karma from this will snow you under
  14. Yep, he likes it Nice sign too
  15. very nice clean cutting
  16. I have to agree, the cutting looks good, and my spirals are sitting there waiting for a day I feel masochistic.
  17. I used the tubes for organization when I started, now I use the tubes for saw dust, one tube per species I leave the blades in the pack they come in, unwrapped and with the tiny wire off of them. The pack lays on the saw sub table I built
  18. I started with a porter cable, it is a good starter saw IMO. You can find them on craigslist for $50. But that said, I agree, look for a higher end saw, I got my ex-21 on craigs list
  19. Very very nice
  20. beautiful work. I wish I had the patience and creativity for that detailed kind of thing. What glue is used to hold the paper strips in place?
  21. You did really well on that one, can't wait to see how amazing you get as time goes by
  22. I do it that way, and also have a block behind the blade while the motor is running. Nudge the block forward and see how much it kicks back @OzarkSawdust The more aggressive the motion of the blade, the harder it is to make sharp turns, at least in my experience. Of course it does cut fast that way. Not really a tuning tip, but I set my saws (ex-21) speed at 3/4 or a little higher. In my experience I get better cuts, feed the work slowly and the multiple times the blade moves up and down seem to reduce the fuzzies on the back a lot.
  23. Very nice, something else to try to achieve for me What finish did you use?
  24. amazing amount of detail cutting, very nice
  25. You can also use a razor knife to draw a line separating the two, then use an artists brush. In this one, all I did was use an artists brush, put the lighter shade on first
