I used golden oak stain on aspen for the beak
The leaves are aspen, and I mixed green and red acrylic to get a soft muddy green and then water to make it more of a wipe than a paint.

Seems to me that the problem is with the pattern
when you cut the side that has Busch, the "holes" at the end of the word will cause drop outs in the adjacent side that was cut
If you look at Brenda's nice cutting, both words take the same space horizontally

I'm a sucker for contrast, but I still like the hooded skull better. I think if I were to make this I would do the hood in different shade, and use the same stain for the third layer as you used in the solo skull
