  1. Hope you get the tablet figured out so we can see the results, sounds interesting
  2. ahh iphone, android here, no joy
  3. Shame about the pup, but at least we can be humane to animals, if not people superb pattern and cutting
  4. Hence the reason I asked for distance I am well aware of how sound changes with distance, I am trying to avoid building yet another box
  5. Scroll Saw Fix by osmosis! too cool
  6. Fein and Fesstool, good to know, pricey though, thanks Ray do you know the db of the fein or fesstool when it is on? and if so how far from it are you when measuring? there are a lot of db meters as apps for the smart phone if you need one.I use one called "Sound Meter"
  7. More money, just not an option anymore to experiment like that
  8. Which video editor? cost?
  9. 62db is low for a vacuum, best I have seen is 63 and that is a hotel commercial grade, big bucks. normal conversation is 60 db My big concern with a vacuum, is that I would want it to turn on and off with the saw, I know how to do that, but the start and stop cycle is not something a vacuum motor is designed for
  10. take the pic with the tablet, log in and start a thread, then all you have to do is drag the pic from the tablet gallery to the thread where it says drag files here
  11. I've been on this site a couple of years, and this is at least the 4th time this has come up, albeit with a different internet story to start it each time. It is illegal to duplicate a trademark or a copyright and everyone knows that. You can quibble and play semantics all you want but it really boils down to the fact if you do it - you take your chances. I know from a personal friend that HD does not play around, once they tumble to your activity (and he was not selling just putting info on the net). YMMV
  12. Outstanding work on the clock, wow!
  13. Never heard of them or the use, but at first blush, If it was permanent the only way I can see to use them is to put them on the reverse side of the piece
  14. Nice cutting, what is the base wood?
  15. You and all y'all down under are in our prayers, stay safe
  16. ditto, very nice
  17. Love the bass & frog, where did that pattern come from?
  18. Very nice cutting, and welcome from Texas One question though, the USN piece, the top piece, the header if you will, is it mounted backwards?
  19. You can use Plexiglas as a back drop to a stack of cuttings that form a 3-d picture, and then an led or two at the base lights it up nicely. You will get all kinds of tips on Plexiglas, I find a fine tooth blade at a slow to moderate speed will cut it and not have it melt back together behind the blade. Some use a torch to smooth the edges, but I find it way easier to wrap a thin paperback book with sheet sandpaper, and the book will curve over the edge as you sand. I do this on Harley windshields when I cut them down, and the end result is great.
  20. that is an amazing shop, I expect it took him to his present age to get it all made, now just to use it (joking)
  21. I guess I am so cheap, I just use wood. from furniture, scraps, cast offs from a construction site, and occasionally I break down and buy a board
  22. Jim, thanks for the explanation, I see how you are doing it now, very clear explanation. I'll have to think this through, I do not have a band saw, and very little room to put one anywhere either. I never realized you built the whole box and then cut the top off, interesting
  23. Jim, do you use a jig of some kind to position the sides for gluing? or is there some hidden joint I can't make out?
  24. tape residue is better removed, at least in my opinion, with mineral spirits, just wipe it down. I use a corded drill, mounted on a board for the sanding mop, the mop hangs over the work bench. I did this mostly cause I do not believe the bearings in a drill press are suited to lateral pressure, and it allows me to leave the mop mounted. Of course the corded drill bearings most likely have the same issue, but with corded drills less than $20 its a cheap replacement not to mention easier. In my set up, I found that if I throw a sheet down under the mop, I no longer lose a piece since that makes it easier to find, corollary to Murphy's law. I actually discovered that trick working on harleys, there are some tiny parts is some areas, invariably I would drop one into never never land, started putting down a sheet, and no problems since.
