    Iggy I know you have a game plan with the Dewalt saws But keep what Scrapple said about the Hegner in mind.Since you got me hooked on puzzles I have done about 25 in 3/4 oak.I will not do this with my EX I only use the EX for 1/2" and under where I have to keep feeding the blade like doing word art.But doing puzzles i only have to feed the blade 2 or 3 times per puzzle.Like the Dewalt the EX has too many moving parts.The hegner just keeps on going with a few drops of 3 in 1 oil.A good used one will cost a few dollars more than a New dewalt.

    Roly your right. There are so many different kits and blanks.I made over 200 pens ,and there are not 2 alike. Except when I made 6 pens for nurses at the treatment center.Even they were a little different than each other.Each Olive Wood blank had a totally different grain.

    These are done with CA The 2 pens are Diamond wood Plywood

    It will burn your eyes sometimes. I put a Vac Attch. on the lathe It works great for CA finish and fine dust when sanding exotics.

    CA or Super Glue Is a very durable finish for pens that will be used on a daily basis.About 10 -15 coats running on the lathe Sand from about 400 grit to around 2000 or higher.Plastic polish and it looks like glass.But I still prefer a Friction polish finish It just feels better. But higher Maintenance.The friction polish is preferred by collectors.

    How about taping up one side for glue and spray the reverse side.More than one time

    You own 2 saws I own 2 saws. I have a Hegner 18VS and a EX .Together if you were to buy them new it would cost 2800.00.I bought both used at a very good price I enjoy cutting with both saws Me personally I use the Hegner just for 3/4 hardwood now It has a powerful motor and less moving parts. Very smooth cutting and saves wear and tear on The EX.I use the EX for everything else.I would love to melt the 2 saws together and make one saw.And i would be willing to spend top money to do it.But like you say that is no going to happen So I better keep both saws.But that one saw is what is needed for very serious Scroll cutting

    I said it once I will say it again.Pick any Three members of this forum to design a Scrollsaw And Name it the SSV Custom Scrollsaw and within a year it will be the only Scrollsaw sold the world.

    I really like the EX. But the table has a lot to be desired.The table is worn down to the bare medal and I kept getting black rub marks on my work Really noticable on Maple.So i decided to use some Vinyl shelf paper that I had to cover the top.So far I cut about 5 puzzles and it is holding up fine and the wood just glides across the table,Except with one mishap with a blade that came loose.So I ordered some thicker counter top Vinyl to try out.If any of these so called tool Manufacturers would just ask any SSV member what they would like or dislike in a Scroll Saw I think they would have a winner

    On the EX saw when the lift arm starts to feel a little rough up and down .The adjusting screw has a ball bearing mounted on the tip.I took the screw out and added a little 3 in 1 oil to the bearing,pushed it in and out a couple of times.Now it acts like a new saw

    If anyone is interested in a cheap way to make Child Safe Labels.What I done was bought Avery Plain address labels 1"X 2 5/8 And downloaded there software Punch in the model # of the label and type away.

    I just started doing some animal puzzles.As I was doing a search here at SCV.I could not believe all the Info that our members take time to share .The trials and eras as we become more proficient.When it came to searching for puzzles in particular I came on a lot of Iggys post Every question I had got answered on this forum. Thanks Guys.Makes life a lot easier

    I made these 2 for the shelter from Iggys pattern.What a nice pattern .And another sign The other one got hijacked by my cousin.She is a volunteer at the shelter

    Thanks iggy I was having a little trouble with the FDUR blades so tried the FD polar and they worked a lot better on the second one i did
