As Wichman said, to check if you are pushing to one side or the other, when cutting, stop and release the project. the wood should stay in place. If it moves, you are pushing to one side. This is one reason I use Pegas MGT blades as they are not stamped, so you follow the line more straight on. If you are in the USA, I maybe able to give you some sample. Send me a message.

A basket C261 pattern by Alex Fox. I used 1/4" Baltic Birch plywood 10"square. Cut on the Pegas Scroll Saw using Pegas #1 MGT blades. Before gluing, an artist in studio at ArtCrafters wanted to stain it. After sanding, gluing, spraying with Shellac, another coat of spray Shellac. Comments welcome.

As mentioned, buy the best you can afford. Years ago, I bought a Hitachi from Lowe's and returned it within a week. Bought a DeWalt (still have it), then an EX21, and now a Pegas. Several purchased the Bauer, but still too new on the market for reviews.
