  1. I suppose so. Each to his own I suppose
  2. Great job on the cutting it came out beautiful. No offence meant regarding the hummingbird but I though it looked more like a dragon... sorry about that Tony
  3. Very nice job. I love these puzzle cuttings of dog names. Well done
  4. Thanks Denny. Never really tried to get working with a scroll saw. I much prefer a fret saw - I can 'feel' the job better if that makes any sense? Tony
  5. Thanks namunolie... glad you like
  6. That is beautiful work. I need to try one of these sometime.
  7. Hi to all. I have always loved the challenge that portraits provide when cutting with my saw. Over time I have managed to refine my technique regards pattern making and try as much as possible to get a true likeness of the subject that I am cutting. Apart from my patterns being better I feel that my cutting has also gotten better but feel that I still have a lot to learn. The first pic, (which I have already posted here), is of my wife's daughter, the first ever portrait that I cut and the second is of one of the Maltese villages Patron Saints. It is of Christ the King of the village Poala which I cut last summer. Thanks a mil Tony
  8. Thanks Delvaughn. Have done a couple of signs before but never the dates one. Was a bit of a problem only using a hand fret saw.
  9. An unpretentious pattern with clean cuts and lovely message. Very nice indeed Tony
  10. A great idea with lovely contrasting colours
  11. Very nice work - well done
  12. Thanks Marg. The days sign is pretty sweet. Made it from up-cycled pallet wood. Took the whole thing apart, cut what needed to be cut and reassembled in the required size.
  13. Thanks Dave has truly been quite a while but will try to keep putting in a regular appearance.
  14. Thanks Dan. Yes am still using the old fret saw... never graduated to the Scroll saw Cheers
  15. A couple of friends of ours got married close to the end of last year and it was a blast! A couple of months before they asked me if I would do a couple of cuttings for them. They wanted a guestbook and also a couple of signs; one for the hall and one for the guestbook itself. Am attaching a couple of photos for your viewing and any criticism you feel is necessary. I really appreciate constructive criticism. Oh the white Mr & Mrs on the table we not my doing. Thanks and have a good one folks. Tony
  16. Some nice cutting. A great job.
  17. This is a great cut.. well done. - - - - - Batteries not included (all works done with fret saw) - - - - -
  18. It's been many many moons since I have been on here, but have to admit that I have missed it so much. Hopefully will try to put in a regular appearance and get back in the saddle. I have been doing quite a bit of work and will surly post some pics in the coming days. Am still using the old style fret saw and never graduated to a scroll saw... Would just like to wish everyone a healthy and prosperous new year. All the best. Tony
  19. They should go down a treat. Well done. Tony
  20. Beautiful work Randy, amazing as always. Congrats to your son. Tony
  21. Dave my man - I am speechless! You have really outdone yourself with an amazing pattern and cutting. I like a challenge, but dear Gods that would drive me insane. I can't stop flicking between the cutting and the photo. Well done mate Tony
  22. This is such an adorable. A great cut Dick. Very nice indeed. Tony
  23. I have to agree with you Kevin, it would look awesome in solid wood but not such a simple matter with a hand saw. The thickest I've ever cut is 7/16 inch and that was pretty tough to cut. Still some time before Christmas - you might come across a nice piece in time Tony
  24. Thanks for your lovely comments Mrs N. Wanted something that would stand out a little Tony
  25. Thanks Melanie. I have been using a fret saw for less than a year myself and never even touched one before that but I put my heart into and just go for broke... (which is sometimes how things end up) Whenever you feel confident give it a shot! Cheers Tony
